Don’t care at all about the pizza cup on 21:57 - Dec 1 with 1432 views | backwaywhen | It’s not about the competition it’s about the manager’s ability or lack of in Cooks case to set teams up and counter oppositions set when their on top , and he is unable to do that thus far , so in my eyes not good enough.
Don’t care at all about the pizza cup on 21:59 - Dec 1 with 1362 views | chrismakin | Would have been a confidence boost to start a new month with a win. But to start a new month with a defeat after being 2 goals ahead again... not the boost you need.

At least we can drop the 3 wins in a week crap. It’s a ridiculous narrative considering how we’ve been doing.

That was as close to a 1st 11 as possible. The amount of league appareances in that lineup compared to arsenal was incredible.

Agreed....and if we don't? I mean...that was Arse u21s....and a more than decent starting XI and.... ....doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result is a sign of....

Don’t care at all about the pizza cup on 22:18 - Dec 1 with 1131 views | WicklowBlue | Agreed the League is all important. However you just can't overlook the overall trend, defensively we are soft. On paper we should have continued from the first half and won this game easily. Yet again it seems like we just stop believing and confidence is a big issue. I'm not in the binary mode of Cook in or Out but... a) Did we overhype the players we signed? Individually they were good in their previous teams. But we don't seem able to craft a side from them. B) Is it the managers fault that mistakes are being made all over the pitch? C) Now we have invested heavily in the player performance/red zone management has anything changed? If we fall away into the second half is fitness an issue (which personally I believe was a big issue under PL) D) Mentality... confidence, why oh why can't we kick on from winning situations. E) Tactics and formation, though in fairness tonight not sure that was the problem. It's all about getting a performance out of that team. F) If these levels of performance keep going then it is the manager who will be relieved of their duties. Dare I say this is becoming very similar to Manure and Ollie at the wheel. Except PC has not gone down the desperate route of changing formation each game...yet...

In response to F, neither did Solskjaer, other than a couple of attempts at a wing back system which had worked for him before. The criticism from United fans was he tried the same thing over and over when it wasn't working.

Beg to differ but in fairness point F was a bit more tongue in cheek. Following ManUs hammering at Liverpool they went to 5 across the back but anyway nothing worked and Ollie was relieved of his duties. Don't care about that but simarly the ManU squad was capable of much more but the dressing room was lost. Is this where we are, i.e. players have lost faith in PC and coaching staff? Completely different from an EPL squad, but again is point a valid? Or is this a total confidence/belief thing?

Pigott 20 plus goals last season league 1 Edwards. First team player Penney. First team player Caroll. Highly experienced Wolfenden Burgess. Experienced at league 1 level Kvy first team player.. experience Hladky.. league 2 player of season Jackson.. experience at league 1 and 2 first team level Idris was the only inexperienced one out there for us.

Indeed we did.. with players of similar level as those who played Saturday or that you'd hope would be.. it wasn't an u23 side v an u21 side. Our first choice left back played. Our hopeful first choice rb played The cm we hope to partner morsy played 20 goal man Pigott played 1 x new cb signing played Our LW Edwards played. That was a strong lineup for this cup.

Don’t care at all about the pizza cup on 01:22 - Dec 2 with 803 views | Stenvict | Forget that it's a nonsense competition, the team and Cook clearly wanted to win, but have failed. This is what's worrying. There was a lot of experience in that team, and at a higher level as well. I don't believe the players are being coached well enough. How can a striker that scores 20+ goals in L1 all of a sudden look so poor? Poor Piggott has lost all confidence. 2 missed penalties in shootouts as well for him.

Given our large squad, it was an opportunity to give the likes of Piggott and even Jackson, El Miz and KVY among others a chance to get back up to match fitness and ready for the 1st team That will be the biggest loss from tonight The XI we picked shows the value of having this expensively assembled squad for cup competitions at the very least It's just a shame they seem to have the grit and steal of a chocolate teapot

Yeah it was a strong line up and they showed it. Completely controlled most of the game. Scored a couple of well worked goals. Didn't hardly let the opposition out of their half. However had a mad 10 minutes and gave the game away.

Don’t care at all about the pizza cup on 08:43 - Dec 2 with 574 views | Chrisd | I agree to a certain extent, but I want us to win games. Last night, we had that tie in the palm of our hands after playing well in that first 45 minutes until the usual defensive frailties raised their heads in the second half. Although the result isn't the end of the world, I'm still disappointed we are out of the competition.
