Can we just stop defending Paul Cook now? 22:14 - Dec 1 with 3533 viewsOriginalMarkyP

Seriously. It's just not working.

Cup games don't count - yes the do.
Last season doesn't count - yes it does.
We're the top scorers - but we look like anyone can score against us.

He gets it right more than he gets it wrong. We need a quick fix and the like of Warnock, Mick(should never have been hounded out) or Pulis get results. We can look at the bigger picture once we get out of this league, right now we need an old head who can get results.

Warnock from the beginning of the season would have had us fighting for the title.

73 today I believe he his! Not the answer is he?

And why not ? He could still do a job here for the rest of the season, then see where we are at ?

Get Warnock in, he would get this rabble up a division. Then worry about the next manager after that. Right now we need results and like him or hate him Warnock will get results.

Not old man Warnock. It’s too late. We need to find somebody that can take the club forwards for the long term.

To do that we need to get promoted, and he is clearly the ideal man for that. Only 4 years ago he was getting promoted to the Prem with Cardiff, at the age of 69.

Poll: An interesting day for our politicians, but which one is worse?

This.
Worry about who we want once we got promoted, this is the here and now and he would be ideal at this level.

Seems like people only care about this pizza cup thing when it suits their agenda...

That is so true. When we win it doesn’t matter it’s a pointless trophy, when we lose it’s the worst defeat ever in the history of the game.

So it's all the players fault again? Because that way we can excuse Cook's inability to manage for the umpteenth time.

As for the OP, you should know with these weird Cook fanatics that every win should be lauded as the best football since peak Barcelona, and every loss is simply due to not enough gel on the players hair or something.

No, I was talking about the game last night as I said in the post, not the situation in general. It seemed as though a lot of people were/are just using last night as something else to throw at Cook to support their general stance but I wondered how many were actually at the game. Just saying that one wasn’t down to him. Cook showed more passion than any fan last night and was up for it, if the players had shown the same level of desire in the second half then we wouldn’t have lost. It wasn’t down to how we set up or tactics or anything on this occasion, in my opinion.

A poster that's been right about Cook since day one.

Might have been a more correct way to put it.

A big fat ‘no’ then, Cook was on the cards for ages hence why he didn’t go for another job.

We're playing 4231 whatever we say; the players are coached for that set up and the club will continue doing that whilst the current coach and management say so.
We can chuck it out and start again with another manager who might play 532 or 442 or 191 or whatever. Then twenty games in we can start shouting for their head too. Or we can just enjoy the football - there's nothing boring, yawn, MM about us now.....and eventually with the right incoming in January and again in the summer we will get there.

....on the same hill that you did with Lambert.

And the one next door to the "takeover isn't happening" hill.

Your consistency is remarkable Dolly.

You downarrowed me in the 'Corners' thread I noticed. Where Tractorcam agreed with me - "Yeah corners haven't been too bad this season, better than last few anyway." And even Herbs agreed; "That's actually not too bad a return goal wise.

So what does that make you then?

I didn't "die on a hill over Lambert" I just gave him fair backing like I do all managers.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

No, you gave him backing for far too long because you're incapable of watching a football match and assessing where we may be on a tactical / man management level. It's a repeated failure of yours and rather than listen to those who can make those assessments, or who may have worked in professional football and therefore have the experience to, you instead double-down and get sarcastic / abusive as some sort of ego-defence mechanism.

If they do sack Cook things will just get worse.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Disagreed with facts? And failed to downarrow the people who said the same? Some might say that's personal.

1) Cup games only count when the Cook cultists and apologists say they do (i.e. when we actually win them)

2) Last season doesn't count because the cult of Cook say it wasn't his players and he couldn't possibly be expected to get a tune out a side that was 1pt off the play-offs

3) We are no longer the top scorers.

cup games only count when we lose them it seems (or draw and lose on penalties in this case!)
