I think this is poorly phrased. I'm guessing he meant that footballers tend not to pay too much attention at school becsues they ate good at football and full youthful abandon. This leads them to not consider a plan B and instead spend as much time as possible kicking a ball around and revealing in being the best player at school, all of this is quite understandable. Paying attention in class is not top of their priority and so they may suffer from a lack of education.
Needless to say a lack of education does not always (or necessarily often) mean a lack of intellect, though we must at knowledge that footballers don't often come across as the smartest bunch.
I know many people who left school at 16 and that is as much to do with the Learning environment than anything else. |  |
