His ability was to find low cost players and get them to over achieve in an effort to avoid relegation. I dread to think what he would do with a pocketful of cash.

Books would be balanced by getting rid of attacking players Bonne, Burns, Celina etc He would then get his proper blokes Skuse and Chambo back. Cue more hard fought games with 2 shots per game on target. Gets results which would please the FIFA Football Manager fans but of course entertainment would be cancelled for those that saw the game live. or maybe that's a bit cynical......

MM is not more appealing to me than George Burley, despite the later being the bloke in charge for the happiest time of my life as a footie supporter. Let legends remain legends, let the past demons sleep.

They were heading for PL relegation when he left, with or without wingers, and completed the job under poor old Terry Connor. The same sort of thing happened with Sunderland. McCarthy is much better with a limited budget, creating an us against the world culture, doing what he does best.

The last thing i want to see is us go backwards to the type of football Mick served up....at least at this level. At L1 and as a promotion chasing team we really should be able to be a good footballing team. If we wee battling relegation in Champ or PL then i have no issue with trying to be competitive by adapting a Mick style of football and it served us well for a while in the Champ. But not many promotion winning sides play like Mick's teams and even if he did achieve promotions with it I'd rather we were easier on the eye. Most promotion winning teams are good footballing teams...not the 1-0 types, and it's not the best route to go down at this current time.

This maybe an unpopular opinion but on 16:27 - Dec 6 with 581 views | blu_dru | He is not that type of manager though. He is a Big Sam, Tony Pulis type. Bring him in when battling relegation and he could organise the team not to lose first and foremost and get you out of it. Beyond that, no good. He is a wartime leader not peacetime (Churchill analogy there )
