I m off to Charlton tomorrow and remember there was a pub outside London Bridge station where Town fans would go before Charlton or Millwall. Can't remember the name, must be a senior moment!! Cheers

Probably not now. You're better heading for the Bermondsey beer mile if that's what you're after. Some great places there.

Cracking pub hidden away off Borough High Street, but I will be drinking in Greenwich as I always do before Charlton.

Market Porter pub at Borough Market near London Bridge tube is best pre-match. Many fast trains to Charlton.

its a Greene King pub,I read a good book recently about it, very interesting history, definitely worth a visit

but its the Barrowboy and Banker the OP is thinking of.

Market Porter is a nice pub, the Rake for all your craft beeriness all around there

I prefer the Wheatsheaf to the Market P and Barrowboy.

The George. Cracking pub

Certainly is!! Enjoyed many a happy hour in there. One of the few if not the only original Coaching Inn with balconies left in London.

I paid £11 for a third of a pint in the Rake a few weeks ago. OK, it was quite strong.... and ruddy lovely...

Old king's head is in the tunnel area and usually filled with Town fans before Millwall or Charlton. I last went there in the Euros and they were pretty serious about Covid measures, so not sure if it will be a similar atmosphere to what you were used to.

Most of their beers are just top end of pub prices, but there is a helpful article that comes up on many people's Google proclaiming it to be the most expensive pub in London. Untrue, but it keeps the riff-raff out...
