Sacking Cook with no replacement 12:21 - Dec 8 with 1181 viewsGarv

Makes it look like something changed in the minds of Ashton and the owners fairly quickly and now looks a questionable decision. You wonder if there was some kind of fall out.

We weren't losing every game, in fact he won his final league game. Now we're bumbling along with a stand in manager who is nowhere near the running for the permanent job, playing the same way as the old manager 'but with a few tweaks'.

Doesn't reflect well on the hierarchy.

Basically just related to the packoutPR campaign and the fact that they're attending the Sunderland game, so nice to have something positive to announce, some feelgood vibes going etc.

If they're as professional as they have been in every other aspect since they came in, I'd say there's a fair chance they were already enquiring about people before sacking Cook. It's unlikely we'll ever know about it though, by its very nature.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Why questionable?

1 match on hardly equates to bumbling along.

I'm sure they've got lots in mind but where are they?

I appreciate we could appoint someone tomorrow and it'll only have been one game, but I still don't see why Cook needed to be relieved so hastily without someone ready to come in.

This is just how most modern football clubs conduct their business, isn't it?
Just because Evans did it that way, doesn't mean that's how it has to be done.

Think I preferred Evans' approach, although it probably meant the outgoing manager stayed on longer than necessary

The question is would a PC led team have performed so poorly last night?

Tho it necessarily limits us to the unemployed. You can't approach a club to speak to their current manager without a very good chance of it becoming publicly known.

They will have a ist of potentials that they are talking to.
Going behind your manager's back and publicly admitting straight after you sack him it is not very sensible and unlikely to impress future candidates, even if everyone knows it happens.

Ask Charlton, their interim boss is smashing it.

The far bigger question is what's the best way to get the best possible permanent coach, the results of these 2 matches, which we were an outside chance to win anyway, is a pretty distant second priority.

As Stuart Watson said on the KOA podcast, there are ways around that.

I'm not sure if it was Ashton's decision - his comments seem to suggest it's come all from the owners, they might have been discussing it a lot between themselves for a while

Tree-Beard in! Some say his management style can be a bit wooden.
