Streeting has really impressed me with his media and parliamentary performances. I still think that given the 153 seat and 11% deficit from 2019, it’ll be tough for Labour to win in one jump. It wouldn’t surprise me if we see a situation where Starmer makes a decent number of gains in 2023 and then Streeting becomes leader afterwards and wins in 2027/28. |  |

Seems to me there are a number of legitimate reasons for not supporting vaccine passports as well as the loon group.
Caroline Lewis made the argument that they feed the narrative of conspiracy theorists and will harden/entrench positions of some.
Others made the argument that the proposals may be ineffective, given how easy it is to report a negative test and/or share qr codes.
The libertarian argument also has some legs, albeit by allowing people to provide proof of test that is somewhat reduced.
The ones I have an issue with are those in denial of the wave and it's dangers. MPs who cant grasp basic mathematical facts like exponential growth and choose to ignore that a smaller % of a far bigger number can still mean increased hospitalisations etc.
Oh and I think there could be some who were flexing anti BJ muscles knowing Labour votes would win. E.g, Theresa May.
So way more nuanced than those who voted no to Cv passports are all stupid or evil. |  |

Vaccine passports are NOT in the measures though - you only need a negative test result, not a vaccine, to enter mass events etc.

It will make very little difference to the hardness of position of those who are already flying in the face of overwhelming medical opinion/scientific evidence, or who live in an alternative universe where Covid doesn't exist other than as an excuse for an authoritarian crackdown. Waverers are just as likely to be tipped into vaccination as their lives become more disrupted. Only the fanatics will be pushed further in. |  |
