Lacking fight and endeavour. So he went out and got a load more of the same ilk. Bravo

The worrying thing is, it isn't an exaggeration to say "We'd struggle to get out of League 2" at this rate. Colchester, Barrow, Oldham - all struggling in L2. Whilst I doubt we'll go down from L1 - we'd certainly not be looking pretty if we were there right now.

People complained about Cook getting nothing out of Lambert's squad, so why is McGreal not getting moaned at for this? We're 3 games under him now, the team changed and set up by him, non-Cook players brought in. Cook hadn't got it right but we've been worse since he left.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

I think plenty did earlier Flash

I mentioned his bizarre 10 formation choices throughout the game

People mention my brainfarts, but what brainfart went through his head to send the side out with a 4 2 2 2 formation.

Never be afraid to share your thoughts.

Hard to argue with that. Cook needed to go but it's vital we get this appointment sorted ASAP. We cannot continue this downward spiral.

At least with the old mob I knew they were average, so anything above that was a plus.

We were told we’d get higher quality with this lot.

We’ve got 4 decent players; Burns, Walton, Chaplin and Edmundson.

4 out of 19 new recruits

McGreal isn't the long term solution, but yes, Charlton and tonight were dreadful.

Wigan must be screwing that they didn't beat us.

Because he's only had 3 games, Cook had near 40. And the first game was two days after his appointment. Having said that, he certainly doesn't look like he's up to it, but you've really got to wonder about this bunch of players. Another clear-out, folks? Very poor of Ashton & Co to dump Cook without having a Plan B - though he certainly needed dumping.

Because McGreal is just the caretaker manager, and before tonight had not had enough matches for this to be a complaint.

They'd all laugh at me if they knew what I was trying to do. To create a new strain of super-wine in half-an-hour with a fraction of nature's resources and a FOOL for an assistant. 'Bernard Black, he's mad,' they'd say, 'he's insane, he's dangerous.' Well I'll show them! I'll show them all!

Something is fundamentally wrong behind the scenes re recruitment

Ashton out

I honestly think it's pointless getting rid of Ashton. These players should be good enough given their track records. We just need a half-decent Manager, perhaps just for the rest of the season and see how he does.

Possibly they thought McGreal would be able to hold the fort for a week or so until they could get the new man in. Or something went wrong. Or it was Cook who effectively decided the timing (big row, perhaps?).

Who knows. But, given the theoretical quality of these players, somebody should have been able to get a tune out of them.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Common factor there is Cook.

And the club, that’s a common factor. Marcus Evans, he’s still a common factor. Several of the players are also common factors. Portman Road, the Bobby Robson statue…could be anything really couldn’t it as long as there’s a totem to mindlessly vent some frustration against.

If we listed out the wild aspersions from the last month and tried to find an answer to the problems it’d be impossible. They’ve been so desperate, disparate and lacking any cohesion or semblance of insight it’s been painful reading.

Let’s see how long it takes to boo the next manager. McGreal was booed after 20 minutes at The Valley - that’ll take some beating.

Was listening to some pods around interim managers and how they rarely get any success. The players are all just waiting to see who the permanent manager will be to see if they get a game etc etc.

This is not McGreal's fault and I feel pretty bad for him having to deal with this muck. At least he has tried to mix it all up both players and formation wise. Not sure any potential manager would be encouraged from what we have seen.

As said elsewhere it's time for Ashton to put this to bed and just appoint someone otherwise we'll be enjoying more nights out in Barrow. Which in itself is ridiculous considering the squad we have.

because abit like when Bryan Klug had the caretaker role, he gets a free pass for this, as actually we arent expecting him to turn things around its not his mess that he created to fix, and so to do that well is unexpected, we'd like him to do alot better than this obviously, but he isnt the long term answer, and never was, and clearly some of the players have checked out with their attitudes already, so what can you do with them.

Exactly McGreal is just trying to keep the ship steady and the players know that. The fact that there has been not sign of a slight bounce speaks volumes from the squad. Albeit being expected to play a different formation and players every five minutes....at some stage good players should show themselves against teams like Barrow.

To be brutally honest, though, Klug would have been a better bet as interim Manager - he did quite well.

Has anyone considered that it’s mostly about coaching, squad management and man management. And the idea that players are either innately good lads or lightweights is a load of rubbish. Are we meant to believe that Wigan and Rotherham’s players are all he-man super players pushing through the pain to grasp victory in their bloody palms. Or maybe they’re just coached better than us, in a more stable environment, stuff like that

Without doubt, but you can’t coach heart or passion. Sadly, lacking with ‘some’ of our players either Cook’s signings or those that were here previously.

This is the key point. We might as well not bother buying or selling players until we have got in a decent Manager and an excellent coaching team. This is where the money needs to be spent!
