Could Pack Out PR be off? on 16:38 - Dec 16 by ITFCBlues | Doesn't seem unreasonable to me. If people are too scared to go out, they don't HAVE to go to PR do they? |
I may have got the wrong end of the stick, if so I apologise, but I read that post as a passive aggressive response to a sensible and reasonable suggestion that the powers that be should be considering temporary measures to put a bit of a brake on the impending wave. We have to consider the situation as it is, and be ready to respond in a logical manner to it now, rather than be egotistically polarised as either pro- or anti-lockdown or other measures and refuse to ever budge an inch once we are entrenched. Perhaps I am too naive.

Incredibly contagious virus with mild symptoms. As I said, no one HAS to go if they don't want to. No one is forcing anyone to attend.

I wonder what it is about people dying of preventable respiratory conditions that Frank Dollop likes?

Could Pack Out PR be off? on 16:24 - Dec 16 by pointofblue | Yes, but if the government or FA shut things down they might have to pay the clubs for loss of revenue. Much easier to let the clubs and/or individuals lose money instead by keeping things open but advising (not ordering) people not to go. Same with hospitality. |
This is how I’m seeing things currently.

it's not mild symptoms with everyone; i'd call death a fairly severe symptom...

I’d call being unvaccinated and dying irresponsible too though wouldn’t you?

Scared, or concerned about passing it on to an older family member over Christmas. Or being unwell themselves over Christmas for that matter.

Then don't go? No one is forced to do anything they think may put themselves or loved ones in jepordy.

I'm not sure that 'death' or 'permanent lung damage' count as 'mild' symptoms.

I suspect many wont, but to label them 'scared' is a bit like suggesting everyone that goes to support football is a gobby, lager swilling imbecile with the intelligence of plastic duck.

I've decided not to go Saturday. It's not about being scared, as some have unfairly suggested. I've not missed any home games to date and have been attending gigs since the summer. My FIL has recently tested positive and the only time he'd been out was at West Ham last week. He's triple jabbed too. I'm also triple jabbed and had Covid in October, but a good friend has now tested positive for the second time after being jabbed etc. My mum and her husband are both clinically vulnerable and are due to be spending Christmas with us. Much as I'd love to be at the game, some things are just more important sometimes. I'll be back for the Wycombe and Lincoln games. [Post edited 16 Dec 2021 19:17]

Could Pack Out PR be off? on 16:33 - Dec 16 by Ely_Blue | So what’s your suggestion? We all sit at home for a few months and wait for it to blow over? Remind me of how that’s worked so far? And how it’s worked in Aus? Anyway if the symptoms are mild and hospitalisations stay low then we shouldn’t be locking ourselves away again anytime soon when we are getting as many people as possible boosters |
Exactly this. This time last year and in 2020 - no vaccines and entirely appropriate to shut things down. The government sold the vaccines as getting back to normal. Shutting everything down every winter when viruses (not just covid) are rife is not normal. Where will it end? Another few years of lockdowns? How many people have a cold? Most if negative for covid wouldn’t think twice but to go to a football match. Folk should be able to make their own decisions. If you are concerned … don’t go. No one will judge. If vaccinated and want to crack on with life, have no symptoms then crack on.

I think what we all need to be worried about is Delta and Omicron mutating with eachother and creating a super mutation and apparently according to reports it could happen.

But it isn’t in the virus interest to be highly contagious AND lethal because it relies on us keeping well to transmit. It’s far more likely to be less lethal the easier it spreads. Right now it’s in a fantastic place - contaminating millions yet killing very very few. That said I agree it’s down to each person to make their decision re Saturday, and respect to everyone for sticking to what they believe is right for them.
