If we do bat well, there are the players to put up an equally decent score - as long as none of the usual candidates do daft things. Can't judge the game until both sides have batted.

Think it is time we stopped these five test series in Australia. Until we get a team capable of challenging. At least in a two or three match series the pain would be over, or nearly over. Being pummelled consistently by this lot over a six week period is doing nothing for confidence and is just embarrassing. | |

well i do wonder what the other test playing nation as think to this as when the aussies thrash us 5-0 in a one sided tour surely they get loads more points than if say NZ went to India or Pakistan and won 2-1 or something. But the latter would be just as impressive. | | | |

All I'll say is 15years ago at the Adelaide Oval England batted first & declared on 551/6, Collingwood scored 206, Pietersen 158.
England lost that game.
This game is not over far from it, England need to bat through all day on day 3, but its test cricket, take each over, take each session, ignore the scoreboard, dont play at balls not hitting the stumps all the things you've been taught to bat long.
This is a drop in wicket, because Adelaide is used as an aussie rules football ground,and clearly a bit flat and slow and not likely to offer much assistance for the bowlers, so bat and concentrate on batting. And let's see where we are tomorrow at the close of play. | | | |
