One question about Covid hospitalisations 11:05 - Dec 18 with 806 viewspointofblue

Are the figures based on the number of people who are in hospital because of Covid or include those who have gone in for other reasons but have tested positive after admission?

Poll: Would you be happy with Anthony Barry as the new Town manager?

Both. But, anecdotally, the former group are by far the largest group.

Mullet Gtsb Blue badger Bloots N2 Blue ITFC Joe …and the rest. Do you not understand that these forums have massive sway these days? You’ve killed it. We may go on to bigger better things, who knows? Your bitching and whining on here is picked up and has a massive ripple effect. Fking knobs the lot of you. For weeks you’ve been stamping your feet like little girls and it gets picked up when all you needed to do was ride it out for a bit. Pathetic. Cook always comes good, he always has done, talk to any Pompey, Wigan or Chesterfield fan. I’m in Pompey tonight and they’re all shaking their heads. Dkheads the lot of you. Happy to get banned on the back of this. You’re ridiculous. The ramifications are massive which may be placated with money but fk me; learn to kick a ball and know what you’re talking about before you lash out in anger. A massive shame and a massive shame on you. Cook is working hard. What are you doing other than idly pointing fingers and drawing on nonsense stats. Nothing but contempt for you lot and your baseless insights into football when you’ve never even kicked a ball.

Thanks for the reply - and best wishes to you and your colleagues too. I’m struggling and all I have to do is look after myself; can only wonder what you all have been through over the past (nearly) two years.

Picking up again. But I'm now on forced time off till midnight Xmas eve as Mrs Badger has a positive lat flow and PCR. All my tests so far are negative, but trust policy is that I have to stay off 10 days and daily lat flows.

I'm expecting post Christmas to be carnage.

As I said to Keno below, I'm now on 10 days forced time off - I don't have to isolate under national guidelines but I have to stay off under [redacted] Trust guidelines.

Probably going to hell for saying this but 10 days' downtime before what I'm expecting to be utter carnage is just what's needed, right now.

Looks like they’re planning to impose a form of lockdown after Christmas though the big problem will be getting it through Parliament. I guess if the opposition back it they should manage it.

Hope both you and your missus are ok.

I'm grand, she's basically a bit 'coldy' being double jabbed and(ironically) booster'd the morning before symptoms started.

Glad you’re ok and hope your missus’ symptoms remain as they are.

Getting my booster tomorrow but you may be the best person to ask - I was deemed a close contact of someone who then came down with Covid last Friday (10th). I’ve been taking daily LFTs which have come back negative with no underlying systems. Am I ok to get the booster or should I postpone until after Monday, which will be day ten after contact? I’ve looked online but the guidance isn’t overly clear.

It's been a bit of a nightmare this past 24 hours - I've had 5 colleagues on 'notice' as we've recently added to team numbers so there's more people in our medium-is sized office at handover times, thankfully my PCR results mean we're only losing me for a week. And by a quirk of the duty roster, there's only one potentially problematic shift with no cover.

It's as rife in the community as I've known it over the past two years. I'm genuinely more worried about this winter than I was last.

I suppose this is a big problem at the moment in health - people themselves or close relatives testing positive and having to isolate, leaving the place short staffed. There’s an article on the Guardian about Guys and St. Thomas’ trust being under-staffed.

Policies vary around the region(and indeed the country). My Trust is one of the more stringent, albeit we have an 'exceptional circumstances' get-out, which I might try to appease to for Xmas Eve's night shift. Others in the region are saying 'if you've a negative PCR and are daily testing negative on Lat Flow, come in'.

In their wisdom, the Trust have designated a whole different set of wards to be our 'frontline' Covid areas. Which is, on the far of it, not a bad thing as the two frontline wards from last year are pretty broken staff-wise but for me and my team it's meant that we're starting from scratch a bit with nurses and junior doctors that are relatively unexposed to the realities and practicalities of managing people with covid.

And that's before this year's 'glorious' wrinkle which is seeing us(locally, at least) far more unwell younger people, notably younger women - which simply hasn't been a 'thing' really over the last year or so.

A fair bit of it. There's two main groups that are sick. The double-jabbed and vulnerable who are awaiting booster or the unjabbed. The unjabbed are generally finding their way to ITU. The jabbed either home or the grave.

Also, at Wythenshawe Hospital the covid wards are a mix of vaccinated and unvaccinated, old, young, underlying health issues and no underlying health issues, while covid ITU is only the unvaccinated, I know this is one hospital but it has been like this for several weeks.
