First off, it looks fantastic. Great pose and really does look powerful and well done.
But considering the likeness of Sir Alf and Sit Bobby were done so well, am I the only one who thinks the face doesnt really look like Kevin Beatie?

I need to see it. What I’ll say about it is I think as a statue, piece of art, representation of who Kevin really was in football terms, I think it’s wonderful.
The pose of the statue is spot on. The face? I get what people are saying. However, Kevin’s appearance during those 9 years did alter a fair bit. From the images I’ve seen, it’s almost a bit of a compromise facially, but I’m going to see it tomorrow morning so will have a better formed opinion
What I’ll say here and now is that if I saw that statue from the Churchmans, or the end of PR, for the first time I’d shout ‘Kevin Beattie!’ Loudly! And smile for all the memories. Thank you Kevin.

Yes but faces change as you go up to head a ball as anyone whose done it knows. It’s moments in time. I’m not defending the artist here because I’ve not seen it in the tin. However as an image from an arty point of view, I think that statue is astonishing. It made me smile. | | | |

Oh, I do. It’s him all over. Unmistakable. It’s also unique. If you see an image of Beattie celebrating his goal in the 7-0 WBA game, it’s the two fists raised. Other worthy statues capture that sort of thing.

Agree, but it’s more of a composite of Beatties. The 1974 pic from which it’s taken is spot on, Adidas wasn’t the kit then of course, and his hair was different and no sidies, but at least the rumoured bubble perm circa summer 78’ wasn’t used! It’ll work! | | | |
