Is there anyone on here who has watched the actual video that is... 17:16 - Dec 20 with 8529 viewsBluearmy71

Not rather impressed by KM

He came across well, I love his confidence in his own ability, his game plan from the outset would appear to be what we call "the Ipswich way" by the sounds of it he's gonna find coached that are dedicated to the 4 different areas of the pitch, the training ground is gonna be hard work but also fun!

I think he's ticked a few boxes that were not even there to tick!!

The stand out thing for me he said though was (not a direct quote) he could tell from watching Saturday that no one has given up......(the most import bit for me is the following) and no one wants to be anywhere else!! That for me is huge and imo that was exactly the position with Dozzel and Downes and maybe a couple who knew there was no renewal coming for them, their heads were not fully on the game for us at the time and it showed in their playing, its great that he can't see any of that although he really shouldn't given how new most are to the squad.

Exciting times ahead on the good ship ITFC!!

Could you be arsed being this negative all the time? You didn't like Cook, you've recently thrown shade at Ashton and now you're going at McKenna because he's spoken about his most recent employer in his first interview for new club, christ.

I like to think I share a mixture actually.

Funny you felt I disliked cook.

Ashton. My question was 1 post based on an Athletic article.

So no, not overly negative.

You didn't get a good vibe after two quotes?

Sitters posted exactly what had been published at the time you posted.

It was premeditated nonsense as everyone could see. Other posters on another thread are calling it trolling as well I see.

Anyway. Yes, I found straight from the off he jumped straight into the where I'm from. What Ive done etc.

We've been there. Heard it. Give us something new. Otherwise all we are gonna hear every week is how hes confident in what he's doing as he did it at man utd. Big club big players etc. Same as lambo and PC.

Now also watching the vid. You can see why he may have come across as quite school teacherish to players. Let's all hope it's well received and it all ends well.

Two matches isn't enough of a sample size to have any valid stats.

You've trolled again today, Phil told you not to previously but you did anyway. You can surely see people are sick of the hot takes.

We'll see, so far not liking it. Heard all the bull about front foot football, attacking the opponents etc before. This league needs more than that.

I look forward to seeing you mention Man UTD which will no doubt come up every 5 minutes as the press conferences continue.

TBH tho will any of us give a sht if we're winning nope. But first impressions, don't like him. Came across as someone reading out his CV to the class. But hey ho, that's opinions.

You're not liking the years of experience well beyond his age, the talk of continually learning and looking to improve, about putting down foundations, about focussing on getting the process right, getting everyone on the same page, the 100% commitment every game, the thorough preparation, the the glowing references from people who've spent their careers in the game about his attention to detail, man management skills, dedication and effort?

Interesting take. He may not work out, but it's hard to see what the problem is so far. He's only talked about Spurs and Man U when he was asked what his CV was. And yes he was reading his CV, as *again* he was asked what his CV was.

I mentioned it to SB.

And I appreciate where you're coming from. But for me. For example. Why ipswich? . That's the question. Then theirs your man utd name drop.

Might be a hangover from the Lambert days, but it just for me came across as make sure everyone knows where I hail from that's what I'll be based on etc

As said. It's fine no one shares the same view. No problem. But I'm just a little put off by him personally. And that was my immediate reaction. The video shows some promise. Bit lots of things we've heard before and can only judge on going forwards. I'm not sold on him at all. I'm caught between if I like the fact we head hunted him or if I'd rather someone got it who applied. That's always a personal preference that one.

I thought he was okay in that interview and nothing more, he doesn’t stir the emotions like Cook did nor exude that commanding respect someone like McCarthy seemed to have, but ultimately, he’s confident and believes he can do the job and that’s a big tick from me.

It’s all about what he does and I think he’s a very serious manager, there will be no gimmicks here.

There's not much a new manager can say in his first press conference that hasn't been said a thousand times before.

So to say that you're not liking it already is either ridiculous or attention seeking. Though you've toned down from your original post, which was after a few of his first comments on EADT and which was the most pathetic post I've ever read on this forum.

I think he deserves credit for coming over well and you talk about him mentioning Man U - of course that was going to happen as people asked him. What he didn't do was namedrop the way he could have done. I don't believe he mentioned any of the star players he's coached recently, only who was in the Spurs academy when he first started coaching.

It would have been easy for him to drop in Ronaldo, Cavanhi, etc. etc. but he didn't. A very level headed lad who I believe the players will listen to and buy into. It's the best appointment we've made since George Burley, in my opinion. That was a risk at the time too.

No flair, but a nerdy knowledge of football! It’s what we need a real student of the game, with some fantastic experience at top clubs for someone so young.

"Now also watching the vid. You can see why he may have come across as quite school teacherish to players. Let's all hope it's well received and it all ends well. "

Chris , when I was at school many moons ago we had a saying "shut your @rse and give your mouth a chance" this applies to you with regard to KM.

A lot of people read the article posted before any announcement was made on KM that "some players found him more like a school teacher" or similar I have no idea whether that's a true statement or not, whereas a lot of people having read that would think "OK maybe he is but until I see him talking I won't have a any real idea of how he comes across" and therefore give him the benefit of doubt with no judgment on him as they simply don't know enough about him to do so!

You on the other hand it would seem have also read the same article treated as gospel and already have this preconception of what KM is like before we even appointed him, you gave him only 2 or 3 questions that in which the answer's were in transcript (which have no emotion behind them, nothing to ascertain anything to be able to judge what any person is actually like) and your preconception raised its ugly (some would say trolling) head as quickly as you could make it do so, " I don't like him, he sounds like he's teaching a class, he couldn't wait to mention Man Utd and big clubs blah blah f**king blah"

I didn't think he came across like a teacher at all, but then that isn't your opinion, its someone else's that you decided to agree with, not saying there is anything wrong there but ffs keep it real!!

As you've been told time and time again by others in this post KM only mention anything about Man Utd and Spurs when he was asked, he never once off his own back said anything about the bigger clubs.

It's up to you who you like or don't like but to decide you don't like KM after you read 3 answers to the questions he'd been asked is quite frankly ridiculous.

Honestly I think you had made up your mind before his announcement and its been your preconceived idea all along to troll, but everything you use to troll him with is totally the opposite of how you have seen him from the start and you have made yourself look foolish.

None of us know how this appointment will shape out until we have seen 6 matches or so, only then will we start to get a feel for his playing style but he has a bloody good pedigree, he came across really well in the videoed interview, speaks a very good game and confident in his own ability and there is absolutely no need for any single one of us to see that as nothing but good at this moment in time.

I think you can take what you want from initial interviews. Cook was extremely positive about everything when he came in. The guy clearly knows his technical stuff but im on the fence at the minute as we don't know how he manages personalities. Its easy enough to be everyones mate when you're not making the final decisions on everything so the real test will be whether the players buy in to what he's trying to achieve.

When Cook came in i was also excited when looking at his CV of promotions and previous clubs managed he looked the best of the market at the time.

Cook quickly signed his mates and couldnt get his important no2 on the books. Clearly Cook is a decent manager but not a great coach. So the managers profile is very differnt this time.

You are right, he doesn’t stir the emotions like Cook, enjoy the media like Jewell or command/entertain as Keane did. I don’t have a problem with that. As far as I’m concerned if he’d ambled on, cracked off the big one, ambled off again and followed it up with 10 straight wins (in my dreams) I’d have been more than happy with that. As you say, it’s what and his team does. Nothing else matters.

I always enjoyed Keane’s press conferences. It was the football that was the problem. I actually didn’t like Cook’s. They were a bit painful; I got the impression he didn’t like doing them. Because he wore his heart in his sleeve he was wide open and one bit of rage from putting his foot in it. And did.

Yesterday with McK I was mindful of the old first day in the job principle of saying as little as possible, watching and learning. Obviously, as a football manager media has to be done, but he did strike me as a measured and controlled person. He gave little away. No bad thing - it’ll be interesting to see what happens next.

He hasn't really said anything unique.

I've criticised our fans before for falling for a manager like their first crush before they've done anything and some of the examples on this thread suggest people aren't learning their lessons.

The same posters were impressed with what Hurst said when he first came in, what Lambert said when he first came in and what Cook said when he first came in.

Let's wait and see what he gets going on the pitch otherwise in a years time people will be mocking this interview.

The difference being here (for me) is that I didn't have a clue who he was as I have no real interest in any league outside the one we are in at any given time anymore, I knew what all the others you mention were about (not so much Hurst) same as I was excited when MM first took over and PJ, I was never excited about RK cos I couldn't stand him as a player and found it very difficult to support him as manager of our beloved club like many others. We all knew what these managers could bring to the table each achieving various promotions between them, their track records were there for all to see so the excitement was can they do it for us, ultimately they all failed to produce any kind of success for us although to be fair to MM had Evans backed him financially in 2015 I like many others feel he could have got us to the premiership, he didn't and the rest is history, a bad history at he hands of a piss poor owner!!

The excitement regarding KM is the unknown factor, now a manager for the first time and its with us, this is a man with years of experience of coaching some of the highest quality players and working with and under some of the best managers in the world at club level, we have not had a manager in the last 20 years that has that much pedigree in coaching, the exception or the closest to that would have be RK!

How is supposed to say anything unique when being asked the same old questions routinely asked by the media to a new manager?? TBF to MK he said a few things that a lot of other supporters thought were impressive, no one knew what to expect but he came across cool and calm with a determination to play commanding football and a great confidence in his own ability!!

Obviously the proof will be in the games, performance and results he gets but that's no reason why from the outset that some of our supporters (obv myself included) can't get excited over just what KM' pedigree and ambition can bring to Ipswich Town F.C and don't wish to sit on the boring "lets wait and see train"

We have something new to look forward to so lets embrace it and enjoy it not sit there with our hands over our eyes peeking through at the what if's and lets sees!!
