It's Friday so fish and chips will be going in the oven in an hour or so. I have no peas but do have frozen beans (not a euphemism for the effects of the cold weather). However, I also have a vegetable crisper with many unused Brussels sprouts leftover from Christmas in the fridge. They need using but will they ruin lunch, do they sit easy with breaded peppered sole? Can I put tartare sauce on the plate and have it mixing with the sprouts?
Urgent Friday lunch question - are sprouts an acceptable substitute for peas? on 18:58 - Jan 7 by You_Bloo_Right
So what happened to the sprouts?
I may have missed it but I was expecting to see an update with either "a culinary delight" or "note to self - never try this again".
I followed Mookamoo's tip and cut them in half before parboiling. Then I did my usual drain and coat lightly with honey before popping them in the oven with the Basa fillet and chips for five minutes or so. Decent. Still quite a few leftover Christmas sprouts so I shall be trying this again. Probably on Sunday when I have a Free Range chicken breast lined up for the oven - but no chips, rice and chicken will be coated with Tikka powder - which is way more out of date than the sprouts, because I know how to give a bit of variety to a faux lock down diet and add the spice of living dangerously too.
