and a 4th round FA Cup game away to Stoke. Hope they have a big squad as there's gonna be a lot of fixtures coming up. Unless they were banking on the season being ended early and a PPG average being used again as 2 years ago........

ive got visions of us getting them in the playoffs, 7k driving up there for a tuesday night playoff second leg
I believe they've already asked for an extension to the season - which hasn't pleased Sunderland among others as there has been a bit of selective postponements up until now (as we are aware with others).
February looks like a brutal month for them. 7 games, 8 if their Crewe fixture gets rescheduled to be in the same month, including Stoke, Rotherham, Wycombe, Oxford, and Sunderland, never having a full week between fixtures.

Their owner has been crying about it on twitter saying how it's unfair on the players, diddums.
Tbf, even though the games in hand make it look good for them, think they play something like 8 games in a month. May be god in terms of tiring them out, injuries etc - not sure how big their squad is.

I didn't think they looked all that when we played them. Hopefully the congestion of fixtures slows them down a bit
Yes. F A Cup replays x 2 after we drew at PR(38,010)… we had to travel to Filbert Street for the replays , twice !
Yep, it was the first time I saw Ipswich play on a neutral ground.
We played Everton away on the Saturday (1-1), Leeds on the Tuesday (0-0) at Filbert Street, Leeds on the Thursday (3-2) at Filbert Street and Leicester (2-1) at home on the Saturday. 4 games in 8 days.
It got worse. Chelsea away (0-0) on the following Monday, Birmingham (3-2) home on the Wednesday followed by West Ham in the FA Cup Semi-Final on the Saturday.
Between 22/3 and 5/4 - 7 matches. Just a paltry 2 more, including Clive Thomas’ robbery the following week. It was little wonder we ran out of steam.
And PL managers bleat about fixture congestion with squads the size of armies.

Plus games in hand are all very well, but you still need to win them, whereas your rivals have the points already in the bank. Couple of poor results would increase the pressure significantly.

Exactly. Remember when we were top and still had all them games in had. That went well! Games in hand mean nothing unless you win them. The games they've got coming up in the space of a month- Wycombe, rotherham, Oxford, Sunderland. It won't be easy. And I don't mean this nastily and I wish him a speedy recovery, they've also got Wyke unavailable now for the foreseeable. Pretty sure he was banging them in for them.

That first scenario was in the back of my mind when I posted!
Thought we had blown our chance when Lorimer equalised in virtually the last minute of the first replay at Elland Road. Was convinced we would lose it in extra time. Missed the 0-0 game at Filbert Street but was at the 3-2 match. Having knocked out both Liverpool and Leeds that season really thought that was our year but then you know who intervened.
