The media in this country is a state. Bunch of "hurrah for the blackshirts!" types who claim anything and everything is a threat to their privilege. They'll be locked up when the revolution comes.
The latest attack comes when the Tories behaviour us brought into question
All the lockdown parties, MPs fraud, PPE contracts and such like are all down to that leftie, communist, pinko broadcaster
and the BBC is not reflecting the concern of the country..... no sirree
Dimwitted Dorries should remember the more normal Tory voters don't all share her mad rightwing views and have a very positive view of the BBC - as do much of the world outside UK borders
Dimwitted Dorries should be reminded that previous nutjob Tory women have failed to take the country with them as they pursued their crackpot beliefs
Was it ever revealed who the “family member” was that supposedly has covid which has caused the clown to go into unnecessary and cowardly hiding for a week?
I presume this deliberate attack from the Government has a twofold purpose.
1 Encourage the BBC not to report anything negative about them regardless.
2 Get their voters to think the problem is not with their deliberate corruption and incompetence but that the BBC has made it all up.
The fact that both points will probably work should be the bigger concern than the fact the electorate continues to vote them in. When I was younger I used to look at foreign corrupt regimes and think they could only happen under dictatorships.

The BBC didn't break any of those stories.
No, but they repeated them.
The job of the BBC (according to this corrupt Government) is to simply say what a wonderful job they are doing and say how dangerous it would be to vote for anyone else.
Good, having pay for a license to watch the TV is crazy, ok in the 1950s but time to move on from that. Just imagine what people would think if we had to buy a licence to use the internet

You pretty much do. Nobody provides a connection for free. And it's stuffed full of adverts, like the BBC will have to become if it has no funding.

Indeed. The internet should be free. If only a political party would offer it as a policy!
As long as you don't want BBC Radio, online services or the likes to exist either then fair enough. I get why people oppose the licence fee ... until you think about what you get from it.
Tories hellbent on destroying national treasures - NHS, BBC - let's hope this latest is a measure too far which goes on to smack them properly in the arse, because they seem to have forgotten that those who are their most dyed in the wool & numerous voters are also those who love BBC radio & TV the most - the late middle-aged & elderly, often those living alone.

Every single comment I read on social media generally, & hear on air from people who've moved abroad, is "Do not do this, UK, you'd be mad!" - because the quality of broadcasting they find in every other country around the world is absolutely dire compared with the BBC.

Saw a few people responding with “Defund Nadine Dorries” which is superb given her extortionate claims as an MP and fact she employs her daughter as a PA at our expense for £45k

Yes indeed. Do all you can to save the NHS and BBC. The other ways are not better
If they make the BBC an optional streaming service then fine by me. And young people don’t watch it anyway & think it’s insane that they are forced to pay for it.
In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Ah but how many listen to it?
BBC Radio 1 has 8.25m listeners and the Radio 1 Breakfast Show has 4.28m listeners. The station is now behind Heart Network (see below) but is still No.1 for 15-29s.
“I’m very proud that Radio 1 remains the No.1 station across the UK for young people with nine million weekly listeners [aged 10+], and an increased audience of over 19 million across YouTube, iPlayer and social media,” said head of station Aled Haydn Jones. “Despite all the disruption to our young audience’s routines over the past 18 months, Greg James remains the No.1 Breakfast Show with 4.72 million.”

The amount of content linked to education through bite size etc. Is a massive investment people who have had kids will know all about. Likewise Newsround, adds to the ways in which BBC content can be used for the greater good amongst all kids.
Frankly anything the Tories think is a good idea should be considered as wrong almost out of hand these days.

It has been the same with brexit - the sheep (four legs good) were given a slogan 'take back control baa baa........and rather than engaging in what became complicated discussions (for them) ie you had to think, use reasoned argument etc they fell back on the slogans.
To hear righties talking about the NHS you would think we had the US system, similarly the BBC.........an organisation that would rival anything Goebells came up with.
It must baffle the real establishment the idiots believe, unquestioningly, anything their 'betters' tell them.

If we stop paying the licence fee to the BBC, we could use the £350M to build a new NHS hospital every week.
It's not just the BBC that's under threat, it's also Channel 4 in the sights of the Tories in the culture war with threats to privatise the channel which has led Sir David Attenborough to describe it as 'a shortsighted political and economic attack .'
