MMR vaccine rates at 10 year low 07:23 - Feb 1 with 371 views | StokieBlue | No specific reasons as to why in the report but MMR vaccination rates in children have dropped to~85% in the UK, a 10 year low and around the level where we will see an increase in cases due to reduced herd immunity (which unlike covid works well with the MMR vaccine). https://www.theguardian.com/society/2022/feb/01/very-worrying-mmr-vaccine-rates- This is a really worrying trend and one that needs to be addressed quickly and efficiently with better education for parents on the subject and maybe effort made to counter antivaxer information online. MMR vaccine rates at 10 year low on 07:54 - Feb 1 with 322 views | BanksterDebtSlave | Hopefully a lot of that will be down to this... "The NHS says it has continued to prioritise routine vaccinations throughout the pandemic. However, some parents whose children haven’t been vaccinated against MMR have said they didn’t realise the NHS was still offering appointments, or they didn’t want to burden the NHS, according to UKHSA." ....and surely this should be the other way around.... “If your child has missed a vaccination, please contact your GP practice to book an appointment as soon as you can to make sure they have maximum protection against disease.” | |

....not to say that public narratives won't have a bearing though as illustrated here when uptake got a lot worse.... https://www.nuffieldtrust.org.uk/resource/vaccination-coverage-for-children-and- Between 1994 and 1997, there was a relatively steady rate of measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine coverage for children reaching their second birthday in England, of around 91%. In 1998, a now discredited article appeared in The Lancet which linked the MMR vaccination to autism. Uptake decreased significantly, and by 2003/04 only 79.9% of children were vaccinated. The Lancet partially retracted the paper in 2004 and fully retracted it in 2010, and coverage consequently improved, reaching 92.7% in 2013/14. However, by 2019/20 MMR coverage had fallen to 90.6%. | |
