When’s he being allowed back then?

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Indeed this

Those who never want him to return really need to ask themselves why they get so riled by a poster on a message board. It's not healthy and I'd say says more about you than it does Fishers.

It's not about being "riled" or anything unhealthy, he just spoils the forums with his incessent posts and if you disagree he just throws his toys out of the pram.

And as for the person who said he's "better than Makin", I never said he wasn't.

This. Bring the two posters named in this thread back and this site becomes intolerable.

Just block people if they make you feel like that?

I still do have him blocked. How many threads were created in response to his constant wind-up act? He wanted to troll people, he was successful and he made the forum a more fractious place. Even when he was right, he wasn't content with that - he just wanted to wind people up, which he did time and time again.

Which is all well and good if he were able to take return fire …

The latter day Sprucey was more a reaction to a certain individual's constant trolling, especially on sensitive matters.

Did it go too far? Probably. But if you take a seal and hit it very hard in the face every day for six weeks, you may turn it into a rather fetching hat.

And at worst made the board unreadable; at best unappealing - I remember one morning when he started at least 5 or 6 threads, all spamming the same negative thing.

Pretty fundamentally damaging to this site's owners in terms of readership, views, appeal to advertisers etc. He had as little respect for them as for the rest of us. I found many of his football posts really interesting & enjoyed those, but if he couldn't or wouldn't get the fundamentals of how this site is able to exist, it's untenable for him to be on here.

Although, not convinced that wasn’t all part of his obsession with attention-seeking.

He loved the attention of trolling and starting multiple threads. And loved the grandstanding of outrage (mock or real) when people responded.

I know it’s better for the forum not having him around, but I think it might even be better for him.

He was so so tedious. Really hard to believe he was a full grown adult and behaving like that.

Much better place without him. I cant think of any examples where the board hasn't improved as a result of Phil getting his ban hammer out, they're normally justified.

You’re definitely right.

Being fair to him there were a couple of posts aimed at him that were a bit too personal. I remember someone accusing him of drinking too much and neglecting his family which was under the belt.

I think I might have gone in two-footed on him as well which I regret.

Don't see the point of threads like these really.

People queueing up to take swipes at other people they've never met.

There was plenty of time to disagree with the posters mentioned when they were using the board without waiting for them to leave to voice an opinion when they're not here to defend themselves.

All a bit off tbh.

He actually left voluntarily anyway.

Unlike a few others, he had pretty good self-awareness, knew when he'd gone a bit ott, & was prepared to admit it.

He was basically a good poster (his long posts on the USA elections were brilliant, full of insight) who fell to P26's almost daily pseudo-innocent needling.

100%. Those types of attempts to get personal should be an immediate yellow card.

The main difference being that- as far as I’m aware - witchdoctor has not deliberately tried to wind people up multiple times.
