Three poor performances in a row 17:52 - Feb 5 with 1703 viewspointofblue

And even the Accrington game wasn't that great. A real concern moving forward, with a buoyant Doncaster and MK Dons to come. If Burns is out maybe it'll force and change in formation because the wing back approach has not been working of late.

Not sure if any player was better than 5/10 today.

Morsy is an absolute key player for us so always have to take that into consideration. Few (many) players were off the boil as well today but we can't always expect champagne football and a win. We got lucky today and scraped it, which I'm very pleased about, even if it was a crap side.

Let's move on now. Hopefully McKenna can work some more magic at Playboy Road before the next.

We are going to have to find something extra very soon to keep us going at this pace. Only so many times you can win on an off day.

That said, 4 clean sheets in 7 games is going to help you win games.

2 points per game will pretty much guarantee a PO place won’t it? I’m not buying that today was a complete poor game either. I know 2nd half we were crap for 30 mins, but for the rest of the 60 mins we controlled the game. Sure we weren’t making chances in that time, but G’ham were disciplined and packing the defence.

Wimbledon was ok.

I’d take playing like that for the last 16 games if it meant 16 1-0 wins.

It’s ok at the moment with the poor displays because we are managing to get away with it, if that changes then things can change very quickly. The record looks impressive on paper, but the performances have been very inconsistent.

Not perfect by any stretch of the imagination but the manager is still learning and it’s very early days into his tenure. He’s getting better results from this group of players than what the more experienced Paul Cook was getting.

Yes but that will soon start reading 2 losses and a draw based on those performances. Luck can only last so long.

I certainly can’t argue with the results and look at his record, it makes for impressive reading but the displays are far from convincing and we aren’t talking about the odd game either. We still don’t look any nearer to being a play off chasing team to me, regardless of the form in the last 7 league games.

Obviously it was.

2-0 away from home, pretty reasonable performance.

Would people rather a repeat of the home game against them, where we battered them and let in 2 very late goals?

You can flip that round, can't you? We're doing enough of the hard things - competing, keeping our shape, blocking shots, being hard to beat - that we're currently picking up points despite indifferent performances. Everything we weren't doing under Cook.

Up the quality even a little on the ball and we're going to be in a good place.

For me, there’s just not enough in the performances to show they are one of the best 6 teams in this league. We still look disjointed and play as individuals. Regardless of the result today, I still don’t believe we’ve got enough about us to break into the top 6, but that’s my personal opinion, it doesn’t mean it’s right and I’d be happy to be proved wrong come May.

Yes, last two matches we’ve been really sloppy, both with our decision making and our passing but we’ve generally done the basics well. Had we done those at the start of the season the table would look a lot better.

The number of times one defensive slip was covered by other players today was notable compared to earlier in the season even one mistake seemed to cost us a goal all the time.

I agree, this covering for mistakes stood out in commentary on the radio. Smacks of better organisation.

Similar resilience would almost certainly have got us points from some of Burton, Cheltenham, Wimbledon, Cambridge, Plymouth, MK Dons, Sunderland etc. The difference between having to produce 1 or 2 moments of quality in a match, versus having to produce 3 or 4.
