Would really like to see him involved over the final third of the season - sure he isn't going to be starting but seems a great option to have and hope he isn't just left in the 23s to rot until he signs something - as surely us having the option ties him down for another year as it is?

We are in a funny position with strikers where we have 3 not contracted to be here next year in Jackson, Bonne and Norwood - with only Pigott (and Simpson) due to be.

I wonder if we slide away from play offs whether McKenna starts experimenting a bit more

a bit more? we've had 4/5 changes a game lol. Can't experiment much more than that lol.

But agree, would be nice to see him given some game time, lets be honest he can't do any worse than any of the strikers that have played lately. (Albeit probably more to do with the lack of service more than anything)

a niche perspective

He's quite experimental at that end of the pitch as it is. We can't be too many rotations away from Simpson making at least the bench!

Suspect it'd help with the contract negotiations if we got a sense of where his ability is relative to this division and he got a sense that he's not far off the first team.

Agree. I think he offers something different.

I know they are different types of player, but there is the similarity with Naylor in that he's from a rugby back ground and has that physical presence.

I think it will remain the situation - if he doesn't sign a deal, he stays with the U23's.

I was thinking yesterday that I would love to see us start to have a settled line up.

Fair enough if changes are enforced, but I don't think we can expect performances to improve without a settled line up.

Which is odd as you're not going to convince him to sign a new contact if he's in the u23s.

He cant be any worse than Jackson so no harm having him on the bench.

Sounds like he is also training with the first team, as well as the U23's.

I think we won't see him for a few more games and then once Play-Offs are inevitably beyond reachable, he may feature sporadically. Probably in a similar capacity to Jackson who will surely be off in the summer.

I suppose it's difficult when we seem to have a lot of players who struggle to put in a few consistent games, it just tends to be a 8/10 followed by a 5/10 performance, I don't really blame him, but like you would like to see something more solid.

To be fair I can see both sides to this debate.

I ultimately think he will be sold in the summer.

Yep i meant in terms of training. He was in one of those montages on twitter. Think its good for him to get a feel for it

I'm a bit torn with this one. If he indicates that he wants to stay and have a future at the club then I'd be all for it but if he's refusing whatever new deal we offer (or won't even listen to any offers we make) and wants to leave then I'd prefer that he rots in the U23s.

Doesn't really matter where he wants to be if he plays well for us, does it? Ultimately, there's no one at Ipswich Town FC who wouldn't ideally prefer to be earning much money for a much bigger team!

Starting for the U23s. Armin not started the last 2, wonder if he's slipped behind Baggott and Stewart?

For me, it would depend if the situation had the potential to disrupt the atmosphere by picking a 19 year old who possibly doesn't want to be here over someone committed to the club. It sets a bad precedent.

Mind you, I understand the reverse of that is he could bang goals in, feel a part of things and want to stay or it may increase his value to sell him in the summer. Ultimately McKenna will be the judge and he seems smart enough to know how to handle the situation.

Which is the ideal pedigree for Div One.

The club as the option of an extra year for Norwood

Agree, 15/20 minute spells off the bench, though that's also what Piggot has been needing and hasn't had it, we really need to see what he can do at this level, his physicality should give him a head start, I do question his touch, but he's certainly improved a lot..
