| And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show |

Dick out. on 21:25 - Feb 10 with 842 views | King_of_Portman_Rd | What will happen next though I wonder… Hopefully the new commissioner can bring the necessary (and massively long overdue) changes that are required, though given the size of the met it’s an absolute mammoth ask of anyone… And it needs to someone who can separate policing from politics

It would appear that in todays meeting he expressed his thoughts in quite short order.

I guess that is impossible, given that the appointment has to be acceptable to the govt. So, Mark Francois maybe?

If the new Commissioner is from within the Met then that person is one who is part of the systemic problem(s) or one who has tolerated or ignored it. I think it will be some senior copper from another force.

For other forces outside of London where to the highest rank is Chief Constable they are always recruited from outside of the force.. Not sure about met commissioner, but I would expect that it will be someone who has worked within the met up to a fairly senior rank at some stage in their career

Not sure appointing from within an organisation is the best way to bring cultural change. I'd be looking globally tbh. Find someone with a track record of changing an organidation, if that means we need as Aussie, American or Scandanavian commissioner - all good. We get a new head of the Met every 5 or 6 years. "Same old" isnt what's required imho.
