It is making my palms sweat as I'm terrified of flying, so seeing planes land sideways is nightmare juice. These pilots have immense skill, quite reassuring in that respect!

Ditto. Remember landing in Dublin once, being blown all over the place on approach - buffeted up and down, left and right, coming in sideways.....just awful.
When we hit the deck there were cheers, hands in the air etc. then an almighty sidewind hit us and nearly put us off the runway - those cheers turned to screams and tears.....
.....oh and I've been in a plane struck by lightening when landing....you know things aren't good when the stewards and stewardesses all starting to get nervous.....
As they say, I've no fear of flying, just the crashing I'm worried about.
Ade Akinbiyi couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo...

Try flying during the monsoon season in any Asian country! Wouldn't want a repeat of what I experienced in Cambodia, flew in sideways, kids behind me screaming and questioning if this was it. Made sure to thank the pilot!

Yeah same, I'm not too bad when we're up there, it's just the taking off and landing that scares the s**t out of me. I'm not sure I'd fly again if I'd had your experiences!

yeah Ive been on one of those landings in bad weather, where you as the passenger are looking at the runway out the window as the plane slips in on the approach, which is bad enough, and then it boshes in on the runway as the guy says, takes a jump up, down again then twists. and then you are just snaking around on the runway. horrible feeling. respect to the pilots landing in this.
but actually one of the worst landings Ive been on was on that plane to Russia to watch the Town in Moscow, and the weather wasnt even bad, whatever the pilot was doing Ive no idea, but it felt like we were tipping over and doing a handbrake turn at one point.
