Do you think that that is what the ordinary Russian thinks if they were to watch the news on BBC or CNN etc?

I put it on for 5 minutes yesterday, which was all I could cope with.

Pure propaganda, and that's the English speaking version.

A street poll, (BBC? Can't remember where I saw it), of Russian public came up with a mixed response regarding the invasion of Ukraine, with one old lady stating that Russia is right to claim back what is rightfully theirs.

When quizzed further she said she gets all her news from state TV and YouTube.

Quite possibly, it's why media is so fascinating and a really good window into a culture or ideology isn't it?

Those journalists heading into/staying in Ukraine of all stripes deserve respect though. I was watching BBC breakfast for the first time in ages from 6am or so this morning. The fella adding his flack jacket between segments was a telling statement.

While Iraq might have been the first "in real time" war in terms of news broadcasts, with social media the effects are at hyperspeed. Propaganda, mythmaking and the most harrowing stories are streaming out even over the course of today.

God knows what the History lessons my kids have will be like.

...isn't happily reporting the news via phone clips with "unverified" written all over them.

"Operation Donbass" is quite a tagline too.

The reporter coming live from "The Donetsk Republic" stating that "Ukranian Nazis" had bombed a school, killing teachers and children, was quite an eye opener.

Not sure the BBC or CNN would go to those lengths.

Fox might though.

And maybe GB News.
