A very good mate of mine who is a true blue on 18:10 - Mar 19 with 6098 views | KingsCrossBlue | I know, it’s insane. Since “Freedom Day” and Covid not being top of the news agenda; it appears people just treat it like a sniffle now. My Mrs’ works in e-commerce / retail and they no longer get time off if they contract Covid, and have to take holiday if they want to remain absent. I picked my daughters up from Euston station yesterday, and we 100% had a young women with covid coughing and spluttering every second. She was the only person on the train other than us, wearing a mask. Then our taxi driver admitted he was positive for Covid when he pulled up. We went with another, but it’s worrying how we’ve just reverted back to January 2019. Enter a new strain from stage left and it’ll be rough. I don’t know where the line should be drawn up on just getting on with life. But if you are positive, FFS - stay at home. I guess gig contracts and wages make that impossible unfortunately for a lot of people. Weird times
A very good mate of mine who is a true blue on 18:14 - Mar 19 with 6013 views | gtsb1966 | How many people are just not bothering to test anymore. Government have basically said life is back to normal so I would hazard a guess there are thousands not bothering.

But he did test and was found to be positive. That's about as selfish as it gets really.

What do you want people to do? Socially distance and use caution forever? Wearing a mask is doing nothing with this strain unless it’s an N95. Not sure what the point of testing is at this point if people are ignoring the results? Either way, you have the protection so it’s rightly time to get on with life.

It's been two years and there's still people like you who don't understand the reason for a face covering is primarily to control what comes out, not what goes in. By your logic you don't bother to cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze usually because it's fine to spit your filth over other people. It's not hard.

Is it though. We are now being told that the flu is a bigger risk than COVID. If you have a temperature and a headache should you cancel everything in case it's flu. It's a hard one.

"We are told". That's half the problem. People need to start thinking for themselves.

Should you not go out and give other people flu? No, absolutely you shouldn't. If you have a temperature then chances are you're not well enough to be mixing with other people. It's not about not getting on with life, it's common decency, forgetting Covid. More people lose time from work because someone feels compelled to go in and spread it about.

A few months ago you would have said listen to the scientific evidence. This is scientific evidence so what's your problem.

How many people do you think walk around every day, especially during winter, with cold and flu symptoms. Should they all stay home every time.

UK doctors follow the scientific evidence, & most completely disagree with our govt. on this.

Yes. 100% you should. Society derives no benefit from people working and socialising whilst sick with infectious diseases and we'd do well to culturally normalise the idea that you shouldn't do it.

Yeah, I totally get what you are saying. And we certainly need to get on with life. I just think the timing and rushed nature of us lifting restrictions was way more political than anything science based. I guess my worry is, a far harsher strain comes in and catches this utterly inept government off guard. Personally, I’m not really bothered what people do, but a bit of decency in maybe not getting on a packed train, when you know you have Covid, maybe not that much to ask for?

I understand your concerns but there is quite a lot of theatre in this stuff now. Apart from when flying I don’t see any masks, sporting events have been full for over a year, no restrictions here at all and no health system is struggling. It’s all normal and that’s what is needed in as many places as possible.
A very good mate of mine who is a true blue on 18:38 - Mar 19 with 5524 views | DJR | I tested positive with a lateral flow test on Wednesday, and so didn't go to the Oxford game today despite having a ticket. Although not the law, the advice is to self-isolate for 10 days (26 March flashes up on my Covid app as the end-date), although I can be released earlier with negative tests on days 5 and 6. I suppose it's difficult to blame people because the messaging is poor and employers appear to be behaving badly. The thing is Covid is not bad for most people, but the effect on the vulnerable can be severe. My mother was admitted to hospital as a suspected Covid patient on 28 February and put on a Covid ward. She died on 2 March.

Again, absolutely they should. There are lots of countries where it's considered common courtesy to try and avoid giving others your infections (even mild ones). I don't see why it's so outlandish that Britain should become one of them.

Even pre covid I hated it when people banded around the flu for a cold Or slight chill. The real flu is awful.
