The picture of Burgess about to lunge at the keeper 18:20 - Apr 9 with 1959 viewscbower

In Phil's report says it all. Stupid boy. Studs showing, face contorted. Reckless and unnecessary. Poor from a player who has done quite well since he got back in.

A shame, as I think he's been good up until now and you could see what he was trying to do with the run.

The game badly needed someone with the impetus to break the lines and create a bit of an overload - Edmundson does it well sometimes from that position and Burgess will be dying to try to add that to his game to win a place moving forward. I thought it was a great run, he's just lost his head when he overran it and lunged in.

One nil up with the ball at the keeper's feet and a centre half on a yellow card decides to lunge in like that ? Very poor judgement and I'm sure he won't repeat that mistake again.

One nil up ✅
away from home ✅
75 minutes gone ✅
CB on a booking ✅

lunging in studs first in on a ball he was never going to get to, terrible decision making

he does seem to like a lunge, he got away with one against pompey by getting something on the ball, today its cost us dear

What makes it worse it was THEIR keeper. It's not as if he was desperately trying to prevent a chance on our goal and mistimed it. Or we were 1-0 down in a game we desperately needed to win.

Rush of blood wasn’t it. Good job he didn’t connect or it could easily have been a straight red.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

He’s been OK since he came back in, but…

Responsible for 4 crucial points lost in recent games…

- One less player on the pitch vs Shrewsbury

- Not dealing with the late Oxford equaliser

Poll: W or W

He seemed frustrated at being fouled leading up to the incident but what he was doing that far up the pitch at that point in the game was silly.

I think we have all seen enough that he is not of the standard we need, just hope the manager does not see fit to keep him around like we did with Toto.

Maybe he was fed up of the team only managing a goal a game and wanted to do something to try and change that.
