Ricotta is expensive cottage cheese for people in too much of a hurry to chew. Awful when slapped in a lasagna like our freedom loving neighbours to the west like it.

Bury St Edmunds? Oh I dunno about the lasagne thing. I quite like it in there. Although you need a robust and flavourful tommy sauce to counterbalance it. That and a mix of stronger cheeses too. Can't have enough really.

If you have some tastebuds, yes. Particularly in combination with the other things. And textures, mix of cold/hot etc. It was more an experience than a sandwich.

A wallet punishing experience! And sort of fails on the sandwich test. Sorry However, I like the mint and chilli idea and I can live with the poncy artisan bread, as long as there’s no grit in it - it’s the ricotta (a fine cheese in certain things) and courgette (courgette and potato curry = good thing) that kills it. For that kind of money you could wedge some doner kebab elephants leg meat in there and have change for a side order of chips.

How on earth does it fail the sandwich test? It's stuff between two bits of bread, ergo: sandwich. Until you've tasted it you can't really judge.

I know your type - Stick something posh on Instagram while your freezer is an Aladin's cave of Findus Crispy Pancakes and alphabites. Self-loathing is fine, but try to be discrete about it and we'll all do what we can to help you recover from this culinary midlife crisis.

Talking of the Al Fresco Society. We're planning the return of our first Pump and Pickle event since lockdown. We're planning on taking the bicycles out for a ride up to Cromer from Lowestoft where we will all have a cheese ploughman's before riding back down to Jaywick. We have banned Cream Cheese this year following the horrific scenes of 2018 when Robert Knhobsout's lunch sack ruptured on the fringes of Bungay, so it should be back to fun for the whole family again.

Clearly he has become a bit giddy having had some chilli in a sandwich. Hopefully, when his head is less inflamed, he will calm down with a proper cucumber sandwich, but with out celery salt of course, he really should be more careful.

It’s alright in stuff, bit like ricotta. But it’s on the outer fringes of cheese, a bit like the outer ring of Saturn. Not connected at all is cottage cheese, cream cheese or that Philadelphia horror. Mind you, I make an honourable exception to Dairylea. What a moment it is opening that little triangle of perfection. It can be opened and eaten in one go, nibbled, spread on bread, used to plug punctures in bike tyres, you name it.
