It won't be cheap given it's a Bank Holiday weekend but changing at Peterborough and Doncaster isn't too difficult.
Look at split tickets for the three legs, will probably be cheaper:
Ipswich - Peterborough
Peterborough - Doncaster
Doncaster - Rotherham
Or go via London and then do Kings Cross to Doncaster:

I tend to go before I get on the train, as it is less wobbly and splashing is minimised. I favour a zipped fly, which makes for a reasonably simple operation although the occasional nipped scrotum can result. |  |

Ipswich to Chesterfield for £43
6:00 from Ipswich (Chesterfield for 10:20)
17:57 from Chesterfield (Ipswich for 21:27)
10:29 from Chesterfield gets into Rotherham at 11:27.
(11:30 get in at 12:19 - would still make KO)
£7.10 is an open day return so any train back to Chesterfield 16:45 being the latest to make the 17:57.

Luckily hadn’t sorted train tickets. Will now watch on the telly.

I was in Rotherham last Saturday night and I can confirm even living in Sheffield , I'd not walk to Rotherham
