Any Hull residents on here 09:22 - Apr 12 with 1906 views | hype313 | Got a 3 day work event up there and wondering if it's best to just stick to Hotel-Venue-Hotel and not leave my room, or is it a cultural masterpiece that I should dive into and explore?

Cheers Keno. Might opt for Number 6 on that list, Hull to Rotterdam on P&O.

Any Hull residents on here on 09:59 - Apr 12 with 1789 views | PavlovsCat | The Maritime museum is definitely worth a visit. The Old Hull area is cool, some nice traditional pubs and at least one craft ale bar last time I was there. Many Hullsters take the 12 minute train ride out to the classy market town of Beverley, where you can visit the impressive Minster, and there are more pubs per square mile than you can get your head around. Cheers!

Any Hull residents on here on 11:01 - Apr 12 with 1660 views | blueasfook | Bransholme is worth a visit. Just kidding. You'll probably get beaten up. City centre is not bad. Humber bridge is quite impressive if you like bridges. If you have an afternoon to spare, I'd recommend a trip to nearby Beverley.

Any Hull residents on here on 11:40 - Apr 12 with 1573 views | johnewark | Spent 18 years, including university, there and the surrounding area. Reasonably frequent visitor since family still live nearby. Princes Avenue/Newland Avenue - about a 20-30 minute walk from the centre. Lots of decent bars and restaurants. Humber Dock area - main focus of regeneration money and plenty of better quality bars and restaurants though the prices match the aspiration. Ferens Art Galley and the museum quarter - near the Old Town for decent, cheap pubs - some are still cash only though. Beverley as recommended up-thread. Hull Truck Theatre - 5 minutes walk from the train station. Hull New Theatre - 15 minutes walk from the train station. Avoid Beverley Road for drinking or pretty much anything else.

Cheers, as it's work related I won't really be able to visit many attractions, mainly things to do in the evening. Presume Beverley Road is akin to Prince Of Wales Rd in Norwich....

Forty? I'm not that old. Although it is nearly 30 since I lived there so not really au fait on where to go and what to do. Spiders is still open, I'm told, but I suspect that's not what you're looking for.

Worked there from 2014 to end 2016 and still go back a bit. If it is just evening stuff then would say go down to the Marina as a few decent bars/restaurants down there. Same with Princes/Newlands Avenues and not far to go and bus services not bad . Might be worth seeing what is on at Hull Truck as they used to get decent comedy gigs. Are you staying at a hotel in the centre ?

Agree it's a great place to live, unfairly maligned by lots of people who have never been. City of Culture made a big difference as generated lots of investment.

I did, 95 to 97 after 2 years in an even more depressing Middlesbrough ðŸ˜... some decent pubs in the old town, presume the Ye Olde Black Boy and Minerva are still there...
