I have my second fly of the year in here and the prospect of a summer of this again is doing my head in already.
I have a chain at the front door, nets at the windows but they find a way.
Are the wall-fitted zapper contraptions of much use? I know they kill moths too which I'm not so keen on. Do they attract enough mosquitoes though as a bonus to level things up a bit on the moth risk?
As a side note I finally won my battle with today's fly about 5 minutes ago.
But have to wipe round a bit with a cloth as it was a direct hit with an elastic band; second attempt. The fly's undoing was its cockiness, as the over-confident fecker sat there with the first miss slapping the lampshade just millimetres away.

you load it with table salt and go fly hunting...great fun...no chemicals...me and the dog have hours of fun in the garden with it hunting pesky critters...

I have to say I didn't know there was such thing as a reasonably priced garden store but am still disappointed to learn these things don't work.
Didn't it catch anything?
You don't mean somewhere like Roys where the blue light is probably just that, a blue light?

I caught about 3 or 4 over the entire summer. We get a lot of corpse waggons roll through the village so the flies are intense for 2 or 3 weeks, those 3 or 4 flies were nothing in comparison to the big picture. Honestly, a healthy supply of those hangable twisty fly paper things remains the best solution for me.

I like the idea, but this is for indoors see?
So having to go round and vac the place each time...
Plus I'm going to break things aren't I, if I use one of those?

can be used indoors and only uses a tiny amount of salt so no need to hoover. It doesnt splatter the flies - just kills them so easy to pick them up - also doesnt damage anything - have shot flies that are sat on a pc monitor before with zero damage or marks to the screen. Have a look on youtube for some vids - I was sceptical too but it's a fun buy that does the job with no mess or damage

I have also sufferred from a fly infestation. These are really tiny ones but what they lack in size they make up in numbers. I've been told they are nicknamed 'banana' flies as they go nuts for a banana skin as well as an unpeeled banana. So I no longer buy and eat bananas which I used to like quite a lot.
You can get rid of them quite quickly by putting a small bowl of cider vinegar with a few drops of washing up liquid in it and leaving it near the fruit bowl.

OK, that clears up the bananas...but what do we do about the flies?

Ok, so which one you got?
The rifle thingy or the pistol type?
I'm going with the assumption that a dog isn't a necessity.
