Odd how Pompey and Swansea were both not 'on the beach', perhaps they are too far from the coast
Watching Pompey and Weds both fight back from a losing position highlights our failings. Even S'land grabbed yet another late goal, which counted.
We have to be able to keep fighting for the whole 90 mins (and more).
How many points have we dropped from a winning position ?
And it will be the number of points off an automatic spot which will measure our season, as no one could claim the target was to hope to scrape into 6th, if lucky. |  | | |

Sunderland have scored so many late goals this season I'm hoping that a goal somewhere in the 98th minute on Saturday sees them miss out on the play-offs.

6th place hasn’t required more than 74 points for a decade.
This season is totally bonkers. To miss out on the playoffs with 80pts + is astonishing.
When Guthrie posted his predicted tables, I very much doubted it would need more than 76-77pts to get 6th place.
But I’m big enough to admit I was wrong.
I didn’t see the top teams sustaining their form in the run-in. I also thought the clubs at the bottom would find a way of picking up points but they have been monumentally poor.
The only prediction I got right was we wouldn’t get 74 points. | | | |
