'minor flight schedule change' 13:35 - Apr 28 with 2018 viewsclive_baker

What a load of BS. I appreciate it's a difficult time for the industry but I wouldn't say moving a flight from 11am to 7am was 'minor', especially with 2 little ones in tow. Not entitled to any refund. Fact of the matter is I wouldn't have booked that flight had it been 7am.

Dicks.

That's some moving of the goalposts there.

How can that not be refundable when they've rescheduled like that?

How long you got until you go away?

They said anything less than 6 hours constitutes a minor change and legally no obligation to refund. Mad. I'm not asking for compensation, just give me a refund and sell the seat to someone else.

I go mid June for a week. I'm sure we'll find a way and appreciate its a 1st world problem, but a 4am start will end in tears by the time we land I'm sure.

On the plus side you'll have 4 extra hours wherever you're going!

Not the best time to start with littluns though.

I may be in the minority but I don't think that's a massive problem in the great scheme of things.

I think the time of day is the impact there, it's the difference between potentially being able to take public transport, versus a night-rate taxi.

Recently, the day before take-off, my wife's first-leg flight was rescheduled to 6 hours later, so it would instead land 4 hours after the connecting flight had taken off (rather than a 2 hour layover).
We booked through Expedia, so Virgin absolved all responsibility. We eventually had to buy a whole new flight and apply for travel credit for the initial booking.

Its Stansted but that's actually a good point, I'll need to let them know i'll be arriving at 5am rather than 9.

FWIW we used to get up at the crack of dawn for holiday flights as kids and it's one of the things I remember really fondly. Still dark, pillows in the car, empty motorways, wake up at the airport. Pukka.

10 of us were flying out to Innsbruck in Jan for 4 nights, 3 days skiing, BA rescheduled our flights so would have been in Austria for a total of 9 hours!

In April 2019 we booked flights to Fort Lauderdale, from Gatwick, with Virgin Atlantic for March 2020. This was for a chartered music cruise.

Covid intervened and the everything was on hold. Cruise rescheduled for September 2020, then pushed back again to March 2021. Flights rebooked each time.

The company who arranged the cruise had a policy of no refunds under any circumstances. When it was rescheduled again to April 2022 they offered, for a limited time, full refunds . We took the refund, and made a profit as payments were in $s and we got more £s for our bucks.

We were stuck with flights we didn’t really want but fortunately Virgin Atlantic changed their schedule and moved the flight forwards by three hours rang and explained not acceptable and asked for refund as if flights moved three hours this was available. Virgin Atlantic made a full refund although it took 6-7 weeks. At that time I had no idea exactly how much we had paid, we had also upgraded to Upper class both ways for a silly (low) additional premium. Asked how much was being refunded and the sum quoted seemed reasonable. Asked them if that was per person, although I didn’t think it was, response was refund will be double that thank you very much.

Worked out later we had made a healthy profit.

If you need to go you have no choice but to accept the change. Check the small print and if it doesn’t matter if you go ask for refund.

You would however have long-lasting psychological trauma, particularly as you'd be way too close to Lowestoft.
