This will steal some of the Brexiteers thunder 14:21 - May 5 with 897 viewsghostofescobar

The link below may be behind a paywall, but it is basically saying that Russia’s war with Ukraine has given a group of EU countries fresh incentives to speed up work on free-trade agreements and that at least nine nations including Germany and Spain are planning to send a letter to the EU seeking to speed up delayed talks e.g faster negotiations with New Zealand, Australia, India and Indonesia, while speeding the implementation of existing accords agreed with Chile, Mexico and the Mercosur bloc of countries, which include Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay. The letter also says that the current process to negotiate, sign and implement trade deals is too long.
This would appear to potentially pull the rug from Brexiteers claimed benefit that we can negotiate trade deals more quickly outside of the EU, not that the UK has made any ground breaking deals so far.

It doesn't really steal any brexiteer thunder because it says those countries are seeking to speed up delayed talks, which have been delayed by France.

So, in that respect maybe, they have a point, trade deals in the EU go at the speed of the slowest participant.

I think you're forgetting that we "hold all the cards" and a free trade deal with the EU will be "one of the easiest in human history".

In fact had we not walked away from the EU, we wouldn't be in a position to secure a free trade deal with them!

The wondrous '40 new deals' on day one, turned out to be rolling over the ones we had in the EU - only this time we do not get a say in their drafting.

And worse, when the EU shouts, we jump - to stay aligned, and no country is going to offer better terms than what the UK has had to sign up to

If you thought it could not get any worse, the numpties swallowed the idea that once of of the EU, the UK would not be treated as a 'third country', but would enjoy all the privileges it had done before.

Something fishermen, farmers, exporters, hauliers, holidaymakers, EU home owners, those wishing to take their pets abroad, UK driving licence/passport holders etc

If only someone had warned them

On the positive side, we've now got loads of lorries sitting around doing nothing. We could use them as shelters for the large increase in homeless people. You just have to think creatively about all the countless benefits out there!

Thunder is just rapidly expanding air.

I think we can safely say, in this day and age, rapid expulsion of a lot of hot air, isn’t really fuelled by knowledge, insight and factual information.
