A damn good thrashing 20:27 - May 8 with 745 viewsOldsmoker

So, according to the BBC Sports website football page...

Man City thrash Newcastle to go three clear at top (5-0)

Hammers thrash Norwich to boost european hopes (4-0)

Man City women thrash Reading to secure Champions league (4-0)

Yet... Brilliant Brighton demolish dreadful Man Utd (4-0)

For me, I think Man Utd deserved a damn good thrashing too.

Don't believe a word I say. I'm only kidding. Or am I?

I read on the BBC website yesterday that Sheffield United "crushed" Fulham.

They won 4-0, hardly a "crushing" victory. Not as if they put eight past them.

My thinking is that the Saturday journo (Brighton v Man U) has a half decent vocabulary but the Sunday journo is rather limited.

I've seen 6-0 described as an humiliation.

If I had to choose between being beaten, crushed, thrashed or humiliated I think I'd chose humiliation.
Sticks and stones and all that.
