I'll start with Tyler Walker.

Absolutely brilliant for Lincoln in League One a couple of years back (14 in 29 - 22 in 44 for Mansfield the season before in League Two). Only 25. Done well for Coventry initially (7 in 31 in the Champ) but just had a poor loan spell at Pompey (15 games - 1 goal) after a poor first half of the season at Coventry in the Championship (2 in 19) because he's very much a McKenna system type player being played in a Cowley system.

Strikes me as the sort Coventry would be happy to move on, given they won't see him as good enough for what they want and he didn't kickstart over a loan move, fee would be at the lowest it's been for years given his recent fortunes, knows the division, young enough to improve and go on to be good in the division above and has a bit of everything - pace, movement, finishing and housery!

Would be the sort of player I'd be looking to bring as the number two striker alongside someone even better given our profile and backing. But someone who has the potential to be the starter as the striker, but also capable of playing in a two when we need to change and given his past season I could see him fancying a club of this size and being able to thrive in a style of play that suits him.

Only a year left on his deal as well, which also helps.

A good shout.

Would fit the bill for McKenna, although he has struggled at Porstmouth this year, he hasn't really had consistent game time.

No doubt he certainly was very good at Mansfield and Lincoln though.

Looking at how Pompey play, it seemed a strange move at the time really from his point of view style wise, but obviously the Cowley link was what sold it.

I'm not one for generally looking at players on the downward trajectory, but given what he's done, the style of play there and so on, I'd be far more willing to take a chance on a young striker who had three great seasons (League Two, then League One, then Championship) before having a poor season last year, half of which was for punt merchants.

Definitely suits our style, deal to be done with Coventry probably wanting him gone now and would be an outstanding signing I think behind the big marquee, powerful, quick and proven striker we hopefully get.

I've really liked him when I've seen him previously, plus like look of George Hirst recently, there is Troy Parrott discussed on another thread as well.

But whilst I'd be happy with any of those 3, none really get the juices flowing

Not when you consider the data analysis we do and the chance of using that to hit a near home run.

Probably still suffering a bit of Evans Syndrome. Where anybody who was remotely good ever would be welcomed with unbridled enthusiasm that they might be better than Best or Bajner.

Not even Parrott? Would be serious business to get him on a permanent contract. Have you heard anything about him or any other names?

Harry McKirdy at Swindon.

20 goals and 8 assists from left wing. If we ever moved to a three you front then he could fill one of the wide spots….

Cameron Archer is another one. Sounds like Preston are desperate to keep him but money talks as we know.

Certainly a character and a talented player. Hopefully Simpson hasn’t been slating us too much around him.

I really want someone to define what a McKenna forward is?

Seemingly someone pacy and physical who can be a goal point and go wide and drop deep aswell from all the descriptions I've read.

Maybe. Although I suspect Villa will have another big summer and he will be out on loan again.

Good shout. Only saw him against us but he looked to be doing a similar Jackson job down the sides but it seems as if he can also play more through the middle.

If that’s an accurate reflection of him then that could be perfect.

I'd like to think yes please but he's coming off the back of a really good Championship season so why would he want to drop down?

That said, I would have said the same about Chaplin last year.
