Overall its fairly static for 3 months then?

It's around 26% lower today than 3 months ago. If I'd invested 3 months ago I wouldn't be too thrilled with that. However, it's not like we've not been here before though is it, see here:

What I meant was it's about the same down this week as it was a month ago as it was 3 months ago (~20%/25%)

My comment was more around the volatility of the asset.

I see, yeah sorry, I misunderstood. I just thought you meant the price today compared to 3 months ago.

Bitcoin has taken a hit, see highlighted in yellow below:

So its currently down around 22% over the last week. And 52% compared to 6 months ago.

Amazon is down nearly 29% compared to a month ago.

Seems some of the tech stocks are also taking a big hit.

None of the algorithmic stable coins work.

This one was promising 20% returns which is absolutely insane.

The industry needs regulation and fast. People investing their life savings into things they can't even hope to really understand.

The great wall street crash The same problem, numpties borrowing money to buy shares - putting their house and all else as collateral

It's nothing much different to a Ponzi scheme, requiring the delusion of idiots to prop it up, not much different to that scam that was the football exchange.

I tried to dissuade a relative, who still keeps squeaking he lost nearly £5000. He didn't. He lost the £800 he put in, in total.

Much as some clown who has 5 winners on an accumulator then says he has just lost x amount when number 6 loses, when actually all he has lost is his original stake.

They will certainly be winners, but their winnings will come from the huge number of the inevitable losers.

It rather reminds me of all the money invested in smuggling, which was lost when taxation changed in the 1840s

The performance of bitcoin is now intrinsically linked to NASDAQ. It’s not a viable alternative to equities.

Just looking at the weekly chart for Bitcoin and the crash this time (as it's not unusual for Bitcoin to have one crash a year!) isn't nearly as dramatic as the one it had last year (at least not yet). See here:

Last time it took just 2 weeks for the price to drop to this same support level (where I've ringed and highlighted in yellow). This time the price has taken several weeks to drop by around 50% from its previous high to the same level. The level it is currently at looks a key line in the sand and one it needs to hold. The last time it dropped to this point on the charts it eventually found support and worked its way back up to around £50k (where it reached a new all-time high). But as they say, past performance is no guarantee of future results!

If it can hold the current levels it might not be the bloodbath that is being predicted. If however it drops below the 200 day moving average then it could go from bad to worse!

The price is currently up around 4.4% today (at the time of writing). The early signs of a trend reversal or a dead cat bounce? We shall see...

Here's my completely unqualified hot take: This is not the bubble bursting just yet, but it seems inevitable to me that it will. When the global energy crisis starts to bite a little more, there are a lot of Chinese bitcoin factories that are going to power down.
