Ronaldo for me as the greatest.
Would rather watch Messi, but for me Ronaldo is now the best.
Messi has been incredibly at one club in one league that happened to be the best club in the world for a large part of his stay. Ronaldo has done similar numbers in England, Spain and Italy.
Now at 34-35 or whatever they are, Messi has scored four all season in France, in a team that wins the league by a mile whilst Ronaldo is still banging in hat-tricks despite less playing time in the hardest league in the world. The way I see it, that ends the debate now.
Plus Ronaldo for Portugal is a different beast to Messi for Argentina. Both incredible players, two best I have seen and it doesn't matter who is actually better, but always interested to see peoples reasoning for why one is greater than the other. |  | | |  |

It's been reduced to a bit of a F1 type fan boy and girl argument for some reason in the last few years but basically Messi is the greater natural talent and Ronaldo i would agree the best all round footballer as he makes up the talent gap with sheers hard work and all round ability/will to win. You could argue that Man City were rather lucky to miss out on both of them as both have made their current employers considerably worse at vast expense.
Both have largely shot their bolts now and both were pretty good at what they did. One the supreme team player - the other the supreme individual. Probably the best ever as they set a standard for so many years in an era of mass media coverage | |

The answer is Messi and its not even close..
That nonsense about international performance, i don't know where it comes from. Both have won one major trophy with their country, though ironically Ronaldo didn't even play in the final when Portugal won it. Messi has won a Copa America, he also single handedly dragged Argentina to the 2014 world cup final, he won player of the tournament that year with an awful argentina team.
Last time i checked the stats Messi was statiscally a better goal scorer, much better dribbler, much better passer.
