Desert island - one artist 16:03 - May 13 with 3018 viewsmylittletown

You are being exiled to the proverbial desert island.
You can take the music of one artist. The entire catalogue, but that is all you can listen to for the rest of your life.

Who do you go for?

For me
Steely Dan

Is this a dessert you want to live on forever or one you'd desperately try to escape?

If it's a tropical paradise then I am going for David Bowie. Bit of everything depending on the mood I'm in.

Otherwise it's anything by Adele, to act as the very best motivation there is to escape.

It is a nice desert island, but escape is impossible.

A lifetime of Adele would be torture beyond belief!

The Who.

Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

Ginger Wildheart(with the caveat that this includes his stuff with the Wildhearts as well as solo).
A massive catalogue with an astonishing variety of work, nearly all of the highest standard.

The entire catalogue, even the stuff from the Paisley Park the vault?

Crikey, going to need a bit more time on that island.

Not my cup of tea but I still can't understand how people forget the Pete Townshend saga.

Or someone I have never really 'got' but is well regarded such as Nick Cave or Tom Waits

Bowie for me, undoubtedly.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

Was thinking of The Fall, loads of stuff to listen to but maybe not on a desert island. Has to be Orange Juice, jangly guitars on the beach and cool Edwin Coĺlins sunglasses.

What's Going On has to be one of the greatest albums of all time.

I wouldn't.

As my avatar might indicate, I love Tamla and soul music generally, but Marvin is probably the only one with a big enough catalogue of really good work to sustain decades on a desert island

From Tamla Marvin Gaye absolutely. Stevie Wonder perhaps? Large catalogue and some drop dead classics (albums as well as individual songs, Talking Book, Innervisions, Songs in the Key of Life)

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.
