Ah fair enough, i've not watched it for a nunber of years given how politically biased it is and how dire the music normally is hence my surprise when Australia performed but if it's a gesture of goodwill fair play

Iceland is at least a European country though politically, culturally and geographically. Not sure why you'd think they shouldn't be a part of Eurovision

It's not Europe, it is the Eurovision broadcasting area. Which includes parts of the eastern Med and North Africa (Morocco competed once).

On a different note (!), that was basically a win for the UK wasn’t it.

Ukraine was always going to win - rightly so. To come second was a great achievement.

I didn’t watch it!

Our artist actually has a decent following. He's been a viral hit on social media - so you might well find this is the start of something more mainstream.

Although both are members of UEFA, with their national teams and club teams playing in European competitions, so there is a precedent with Iceland and Israel.

Geographically only half european. The half of the country that contains Reykjavik, and hence the bulk of its population, is actually in North America.
