Absolutely no need to extend Morsy. Makes no sense.

I'd imagine he is one of, if not, the top earner. He has 2 years left, probably with an option of a third. He is 30.

We can refuse offers that come in for him given his importance, without having to deter clubs that really want him from offering a few more quid.

Burns on the other hand would have deserved a pay rise and it's possible they've taken a punt on giving Jackson a bit more.

Morsy will be paid to be the player he's proven to be. He hasn't played above that level.

No Morsy, no new Ipswich.

He is the best midfielder we have had for at least 10 years.

A real captain with all the qualities you’d want for an all-rounder.

Losing him would be a massive step back, in my opinion.

We aren't going to lose him for 2-3 years.

Unless either

a) the club accepts a bid for him - which under the new ownership, considering he's a key player and captain, would have to be enormous and massively above this value, even then it would have to be a bid more

or

b) Morsy massively kicks off and wants to leave and tries to force a move, in which case he'd go on our terms and we'd be better off for not having him.

No real point. As much as we think a new deal means a player is staying if a stupid bid suddenly comes in for Burns from a top Championship club his new contract isn't going to stop it happening.

Truly impaired.

It’s the b) that worries me.

He made a big point about saying the only reason he dropped to this league to join Ipswich was because of Paul Cook (he was obviously clubless too, at that point 😆).

He also seemed a lot happier once McKenna came in, played better, enjoyed getting forward and chipped in with goals.

Under Cook he seemed utterly depressed, presumably when he realised what seems to be the difference between Cook with Richardson and Cook without.

This is all very true, STYG

He’d be extremely hard to replace.

Very much so, which is why I can't see any club seeing value in paying the over inflated price that Ashton would have get offered to even think about it.

More so as he is captain and any sale would undermine our ambition as well as Morsy's ability on the pitch.
