Will be interesting to see if Brook is selected, crazy stats so far this season. Think Root is going to bat at 3, Stokes at 5, then maybe Brook at 6, and then either Pope, Bairstow, Abell or Bohannon at 4, and we really ought to be able to make a decent test batter out of Ollie Pope.
Also would like to see Sam Cook get a chance.

A change is gonna come, but I'm not sure Sam Cook will make it.

Can't see Key abandoning Crawley in his first squad, despite patchy form. Questions as to whether he opens or bats three, but I certainly don't see a world where Stokes/McCullum are happy to have Lees and Sibley as an opening pair.
Brook seems the most obvious one to slot into the middle order, so perhaps you go for Bairstow at 3?
I think bowling wise Broad and Anderson will play, Robinson too if fit enough. Spinner choice could be interesting, but with Woakes out they may go safer and play someone who can bat over Parkinson.

Would be nuts if Crawley is selected, but agree that Sibley would seem unlikely given McCullum and Stokes in charge.

I've been impressed at quite a bit of the county cricket I've seen this season. Lots of people staking claims for places which is quite rare compared to previous seasons.
A lot more runs are being made. I have heard a few rumblings from bowlers that the batch of Dukes balls this season have not been as helpful as they have been previously. Bowlers like Darren Stevens have been much less effective by simply nibbling it away at 50 mph.
Brook does look very promising I agree. He arguably has a bit more time on his side compared with the likes of Ben Compton who has played very little FC cricket when you consider he is 27/28. I quite look the like of Haines at Sussex who has been solid and also, at 23, has been entrusted with the captaincy.
I wonder if Parkinson will finally get a gig this summer. Has been in good form but then again, Leach took a shed load of wickets at the weekend.
My eleven would probably be:
Lees Haines Bohannan Root Pope Stokes Foakes Overton Broad Anderson Parkinson

Harry Brook played for my local club and supported us when arsonists burnt down our club house. Hope he gets his chance. if not now, then very soon i think.

Piling in on this like Mr Blobby on This Morning. My side would be
Lees Compton (doubt he’ll make it but his numbers has been good) Brook (know he bats down the order, but has to be in there) Root Pope Stokes Buttler (know he’s been playing T20, but is still a class batter at test level) Robinson Broad Parkinson Anderson

Brilliant ODI/T20 batsman maybe even the best English player ever but not a test match player. We need to admit it didn’t work and move on.
I’m hoping this is just a stop gap team until the new coach has had a chance to see some cricket and look at other players. If the rumours are true about the team it’s very very underwhelming.

My surprise is Root is playing on as a batsman. Both Key and McCullum are on record slagging him off; I wouldn’t have been shocked if he had stood down from international cricket entirely as well as the captaincy.
