Most "Ipswich" thing that could happen next season? 17:59 - May 20 with 4525 viewsBonneNIL

What would be everyone's pick for the most typically Ipswich thing to happen next season? My picks are:

Finish 7th.
Lose to Norwich kids in the PJ Trophy
Get knocked out of the League Cup first round.
Get knocked out of the FA Cup by a non-league side on TV.
Either Norwood or Bonne hit double figures for a league rival and go up with them.
Burns injury and out for a long period.
Sign Didz as a feel-good signing like Walters, and see him get injured after 2 games.
Lose to Cambridge.

That would be a shame, although at least it would mean our squad will have improved.

Gamechanger get bored of Ipswich and buy another ‘sleeping giant’. Luton. They uproot Mark Ashton and McKenna along with all the back room staff that they employed here. We go into administration thanks to us leaving iFollow and setting up Town TV (iFollow get bought out by Amazon and pay all contracted clubs £500m a year). The only person left in the building is Bryan Klug, who brings back Lee O’Neill to support him. The supporters have a whip-round to pay for a manager. We raise £437 and the only manager that will take us on is Paul Lambert because he’s local and has ‘unfinished business’.

Right. I'm depressed now. That sounds frighteningly plausible.

There’s two games of the season to play. We’re sitting pretty in second and have two easy games to finish the season with. Covid hits again. Season gets curtailed and places worked out on a Points Per Game basis. Wycombe leapfrog us into second due to having a game in hand and a better PPG. We lose to Portsmouth in the play offs once the season resumes.

First match of the season against Forest Green.
3-0 up in the first 37 minutes and absolutely flying. 100 goals 100 points etc..
42 minutes Burns gets ligament damage and is out for the season.
44 minutes concede an unfortunate own goal.
86 minutes an innocuous handball is punished and the resultant penalty makes it 3-2.
93 minutes a wicked deflection from a speculative effort nestles into the corner. 3-3.
McKenna sits down so hard on his new dugout chair, which isn't screwed together properly, it collapses and causes him significant back damage, meaning he has to be wheeled out in subsequent games.

Biden finally gets more left wing package past the a Senate; All fire-sevice pensions subsumed into new not-for-profit pension company. Gamechanger ask emergency loan to cover liabilities; Marcus Evans buys their debt.

Stockport, continuing their march back to their "rightful place in the Championship",
knock an extremely promising Town U23 team out of all three cup competitions.

Following the crash in our funding, a new scoreboard listing alphabetically the half-time scores of all L1 teams from A-Z terminates at letter M leaving Portman Rd with an architectural legacy that will in time prove a staple of the sport section of every pub quiz.

Each cup final in '22-'23 is contested by a team who has never before played at the New Wembley leaving only one team still to achieve that particular feat.

Colchester new injection of funds sets them on the way to becoming the first Citeh in East Anglia.

Play great football in the first half with little end product. Lose steam in the second half/run out of energy and lose 1-0. Play and repeat.

Finish the season in 11th to add to our other 3 solid mid-table finishes.

Is it even possible to lose to Norwich U23 In the PJ trophy? Thought that only Premier League teams entered their U23 in that competition? (But I might well be wrong)

Strong start to the season. Third at Christmas. Mckenna gets poached. Ashton rushes the replacement due to the approaching January transfer window. Transfers get bungled. We barely scrape into the PO and then lose to Derby in the PO semi-finals.

We do a swap deal with Posh which sees Simpson and Taylor trade places plus a couple of million quid to them. Taylor gets injured and is out for the season in the first month.

Simpson then scores a hat trick at Wembley against us to see us remain in League one yet again. Then he gets sold to a prem club for 10 million to further compound the misery.

Sell Piggott and Simpson for next to nothing. Piggott scores 30 and Simpson 25 in this league while we struggle to get the ball in the back of the net.

Add to that knocked out of one of the cups by a local village team (like Rattlesden FC) with 96% possession to 4%. We fire off 35 shots to their 1 but they put that 1 in the back of our net.

Finish season 11th or 12th in Division 3 having lost all our local fixtures against Cambridge, Peterborough/MK Dons etc.

Really high expectations for the new season as we fully expect a top six place.

10 games in and we have 7 points. Pretty much season over and hope now goes to the cup games. Knocked out of them also.

Finish season strongly but nowhere near due to the awful start and finish mid-table.

We all start dreaming of a brighter future for the team as we move into the Summer break.

Season 23/24 same
Season 24/25 same

I’ll add to that, we use Simpson as make weight in deal to get the Posh midfielder who turns out to be to gak, Simpson scores 25 goals and is sold for 15million to Norwich who have gone back up, Simpson fired them to the UEFA league and also scored a hatrick against us as we get dumped out of the FA cup 3-2 ( being 2 up with 5 minutes left )

Forgetting the new dug out dimensions, McKenna knocks himself out celebrating a goal in the first minute of the new season. When he comes to, he’s speaking with a Cornish accent and claiming to be the son of God.

As a temporary measure while McKenna seeks help, Town install Chambers, Skuse and Sears as player managers. The Three Oldmigos as they become known guide us to 45 consecutive league defeats, despite a staff of ‘good old boys’ that includes talent scout Carlton Palmer and Director of Football, Ally McCoist.

Mrs Burns and Mrs Celina become embroiled in a very public court case as the latter shared social media pictures of the former purchasing discounted knickers in Debenhams.
