Agree in part. I mean the last thing Wes Burns needs is a really long and much needed body rest to be broken up by training and matches. BUT, I’m not sure how long the international teams get ahead of Qatar, so these help get some familiarity into the teams?

The German and Hungarian players don't seem to have the same problem. Tiredness always gets used an excuse when a team loses, funny how its never mentioned when a team are winning, Not many of England's team play 90 minutes every week for their club in massive squads. England aren't anything special. They weren't great in the Euros but had a good run. Against better sides they get found out because Southgate is far too negative with a squad full of attacking talent. England will do no better than QF at world cup, may not even get that far.

Indeed although the Southgate backlash will pick up a lot of pace after two defeats in four days.

Nothing against Southgate as I think he has done a good job but I do believe he isn't the man to manage this England squad anymore. I don't want it to end sour for him. I think he has run out of ideas.

Good grief. Last tournament we played, we made the final for the first time since 66. 2 defeats and suddenly he has rnu out of ideas. Talk about fickle.

We will see come November and we would've won the final had the tactics and subs been correct. His tactics are too negative. Bookmark this thread so you can see I'm right.

Defo right. He does all he can to not play Grealish. He’s in love with Mount which fries my head.

He's right though isn't he? I know Southgate doesn't exactly get the blood pumping but is that partly because his persona doesn't quite fit the bill? His record isn't bad to date and is solid enough. Players seem to like him and respect him. Got to be fully supported this winter surely.

The point being it's a gap filler. I admit I've one of those who'd barely shown an interest until this week and even then didn't over care about the result. These are build up matches aren't they, not much else.

No he's not! Where in my post have i been fickle or said that Southgate should go? Talk about putting 2+2 and getting 5. All i have said is that i don't think England are especially great when it comes to playing top ranked nations and that Southgate is too negative with a squad that has plenty of attacking talent. Am I wrong? Have i stated Southgate should go? I just think we'd be a far better team and be more successful if he gave some of our players such as Grealish and Foden more chance. Sorry but playing Rice & Phillips behind Mount doesn't really get me excited and when ever Grealish comes on for England something happens. Never have we had a better chance in the last two tournaments to win, yet i feel we've fluffed it (v Croatia & Italy) in games that we were in total control of but went negative rather than looking to score the killer 2nd goal. Still maintain he's not run out of ideas? England looks miles off it, tired or not. I don't see us getting past QF at world cup. Is that good enough for Southgate to keep his job? I'd like to see someone else get a go with this group. As from the cricket team we can see how much difference a coach with an attacking and positive mentality can make. Southgate could learn a bit from that.
