But the owners get to pump money in to cover that though. It's not the same as the Championship FFP. We just have to show we actually have the money, so the owners can pump in what they want at this level as long as we can show we have the money and are not spending what we don't have.

As long as it doesn't add to debt pumping in money is not an issue.

Bowen should be nowhere near the England team, the last 4 games proved that

Thought he was the only bright spark against Hungary away but since then he's looked well off the level we should be.

Just to ground a few people, and to contrast this idea he'd not be good enough for the upper leagues.

In May, Swindon's local press reported that West Ham United, Burnley, Norwich City, West Bromwich Albion, Middlesbrough, Stoke City, and Nottingham Forest were scouting him.

You can't compete with £3M on a transfer fee when you are League 1 club. Sides in the Championship will offer big increase in promotion clauses should they be promoted to the PL, so that's slightly irrelevant.

A large bulk of Championship clubs throughout the league will of course be showing interest in a 22 year old who has just delivered 20 goals and 13 assists, it would be crazy to think otherwise.

I reckon £3m might be more than we'd want to pay but we could probably stetch to it for the right player who we felt would have the right resale value. Think we'd like Twine if we could get him but think he'll be off to the Championship whether it's Hull or somewhere else.

Can you get Ashton on the blower and let him know that we give him permission to make that offer and that we expect an announcement by 6pm. Cheers.

Quite incredible we are even talking about the likes of Twine really, considering we used to have the mouthwatering signings such as Giles Coke, Paul Digby etc...

If I was Twine's agent I'd be biding my time to see what offers came in so I reckon it'll be a while before he signs anywhere. Having said that, if MK have received an offer of £3m I reckon they'd be happy enough with that.

We can, we've got the money.

And a promotion pay rise in an Ipswich L1 contract to come in in the Championship is worth much more than a Hull one to come in in the PL.

It's just a case of the level of financial risk we're prepared to take I suppose.

As said yesterday, ridiculous to even debate the prospect of Twine joining Town. Much like Crooks and Town last season. We're not shopping in that ballpark yet, largely due to league status rather than financial muscle.

I think we are trying to shop in that ballpark. Crooks was definitely one we were trying to sign last summer. We beat off Championship challengers for Edmundson but not always going to come off.

Yeah, granted, we're attempting to shop in that ballpark. But I don't see why a Twine or similar League 1 player of that ilk would see us as anything more than a sideways move, regardless of how much money we pay them.

We were a sideways move for Crooks last year too. I imagine we're paying a fair whack to Edmundson to entice him on a 4yr deal.

We're a bigger club than MK or Rotherham and the wage on offer will be higher. A step up in club if not division, and that's where we'll lose outin some instances. I know we offered a bigger overall package for Edmundson than Championship clubs.

But, like Crooks, if we are up against another Championship side and matched their wages, why would someone like Twine choose another year in the third tier when he could go to the Champ this month?

I know we have the 'project' to entice players, but I just think someone like Twine is a step too far at this juncture.

As I said earlier, it's our league status that'll let us down, not our financial muscle.

Of course, that's where we can't match what may be on offer elsewhere. But that is the market we're trying to shop in even if we're not always going to be successful. Unfortunately with Crook Rotherham were keen for us not to have him as they saw us as competitors and made it public to entice other interested parties.

MK Dons are going to have some decent money to spend this Summer. Obviously from Twine, but I saw Harry Darling was linked with Chelsea today!

Anyone in the Champ bar maybe the newly promoted teams will be a bigger move than us. Can't imagine he'd consider us after last season.

The one thing we do have going for us though, is we're not based in Hull.

20 goals and 13 assists in a single season suggest his all-round game is probably good enough for Ipswich Town.

Ive watched him live twice this year. There’s some merit in what he’s said he strikes a ball lovely and cleanly but he’s not that skilful, certainly good enough for us but I’m not sure he’s a good as some say.

Transfer fees are not included in L1/L2 FFFP calculations.

They are. We covered this on here previously.

It would not be an issue for us, the ownership group would provide the funds needed.

If he's got those options would be a gamble to come to us, if he wants to progress his career. We've got great support, a promising manager, a better structure behind the scenes etc. But bottom line is it's unproven on the pitch and if he joined us would be putting his faith in McKenna etc. Perhaps Ashton could sell it to him "we may have just finished in our lowest position for 69 years, but this time next year Scott, we'll be championship"

Think there was some interest but it wasn't pursued. MK signed him after we signed Fraser, who was a bit of a letdown.

Heard a little rumour that Ashton was keen and we wanted to sign him, but Cook wasn’t convinced and chose Fraser instead. What could have been eh?
