And it was actually something to be proud of, and to remain close to? Or we could have loons wanted to divide us? To make us a country polarised? Do you want that? What are you going to do about it?

Problem being it's very hard to make liberty, democracy, etc., work. Thus it often doesn't very well. Which makes it easier for those who don't like it for ideological or selfish reasons to proclaim miraculous solutions which are welcomed by many of the populace as a quicker and easier route to happiness. Thet generally do not work either, but by then the loons or the worms have their feet under the table and/or snouts in the trough.

He could very well be right. And that's the only reason I can think of why Starmer's spokesperson today ruled out rejoining the SM and wouldn't say if Labour would end the Rwanda policy (ridiculous non-committed statements imo). Starmer/Labour must not want to get caught up in Tory culture war games, as they must think they can't make progress on Brexit or immigration (possibly a correct assumption). I can't think of any other reason. But if that's the case they need to tell people, especially their own MPs, as there are quite a few who seem perplexed about the non-committal approach today (which is nothing new of course - Labour have got splinters from the Brexit fence they sat on). Anyway, I digress and that could well kick off the usual Labour infighting. But it's all linked together.
