Its the Man U connection, he's going up front for us!

He’s been at Nobu in Ibiza all this week. Probably a knee wrk reaction to some b2b very heavy nights!

Can only imagine he doesn’t like what he sees in terms of the future of the club (or rather lack of future).

Which considering what has gone before, has to be very alarming for the fans.

Don't they have a game tomorrow with only 5 senior players? If that's true. Surprised it's taken him so long tbh.

Surprised we haven't gone for any Derby players tho.

He’s actually done well for them both as a manager and in holding things together there. I never thought he had it in him, tbh. If he wants a management job, I’ve no doubt he will get plenty of offers.

Derby? What a mess.

He looks more like Phil Mitchell every day.

Not a fan of him as a person but recognise he did a decent job in impossible circumstances.

Think 5 is a bit of an exaggeration. They look short on numers but what they do have (for the time being) has some quality about it. Ebiowie, Knight, Bird would all walk into our side. Got a few older heads at the back who have played at a higher level.

I'm not convinced they'll be too threatening this season though because the club is such a mess. It's very hard to change a losing mentality.

They all seem to be on ridiculously high wages - hence why Derby are where they are.

They’ll be looking at championship clubs to match, or nearly match what they are on currently.

I thought he was only staying if the other purchaser bid was accepted but when he pulled out the running then it was unlikely he was going to stay. Now the Derby ground has been sold to a local business man he is also trying to buy the club.

That's my thinking as well.

(Naively or not) he appeared to be trying to do the 'right' thing in sticking with Derby pending a buyer being found.

It certainly seems to me as if he's seen some of the minutiae of the proposed deal and doesn't like what he's seen.

I think, despite his good intentions, he's shot himself in the foot with the timing, given that 99% of the worthwhile posts have now been filled. I assume he'll be a shoo-in for one of the early-season Championship posts, though.

Just been talking to a Derby fan. Apparently with this unusual set up they now have means the current contracted players may be able to terminate there contracts. They lost two of the best youngster today to Palace

Sounds like they’re still in a mess. If a league rival is being weakened, I’m all for it.

I don't want to see them fold or anything, but I'd be delighted if their problems render them a basket case for this season at least.
