Not that long ago there was an article in the Standard stating that no tube driver vacancy had been posted for ten years.


If you can stand a small pay cut and travel then the Tyne & Wear Metro are about to advertise - 36 hour week at £48k.

As a veteran of 30 years in the RAF and then a train driver on the Metro I find it a little amusing that both of my careers garner criticism for some quarters.

For anyone interested the Tyne & Wear Metro doesn't age discriminate - I got in aged 47, although they can't account for stupidity so some may not make it :)
