Sooner rather than later most places will be cashless and as a venue it’s their call to do that.

My bro-in-law is very political and very intelligent but he very rarely used cards. He thinks that big organisations keep tabs on electronic payments and doesn’t want to be profiled.

I also believe there are people who cannot hold bank accounts or credit cards. But perhaps they don't deserve to be able to enjoy football either.

I like the idea of a cashless society but I don't think it is without problems.

The only time I carry cash now is when I use the takeaways as they won't accept card payments. Otherwise it's card all the time.

I think that the pandemic has accelerated the transition to a cashless society.

Not sure how many people don’t have access to a bank account or a debit card, but it must be a very low percentage.

I believe it is to do with bankruptcy and credit ratings. A small number but is it fair to exclude them from a large part of what enables normal life? Maybe some solutions can be found to accommodate them.

Any business that requires payment for their services should accept cash as a form of payment, simple as that.

Well if you’re going to act like this at a bar you should really expect to be laughed at.

It's not as simple as that though is it? ITFC have a captive audience and the time and money it will save in processing cash is obviously deemed more important than the fraction of a % of people who will care about this.

Already you can see manufactured outrage from people who didn't even read the article and started harping on about Planet Blue etc.

The massive shift in spending and habits means society is still catching up. Simple it is not.

"the time and money it will save in processing cash"

I agree, it's just getting too expensive for companies to handle large amounts of cash - mainly because the banks will charge you a silly amount of money to even take it in the first place! This is the real issue.

20-odd years ago when we were getting 25k+ at every home game, contactless was merely a glint in some bankers eye, we all paid cash - and whilst I accept times have moved on, I just don't see why it's necessary to take the cash option out completely.

One till in the fanzone for cash, one bar in each stand, not too much to ask is it?

The bars in the North were already cashless. Didn't notice a big improvement in speed or ease of service.

Personally I'd rather have the choice of cash or card as I like to have a few notes in my pocket, which is probably a result of having been on the bones of my arse back in the day. Also I find it too easy to not notice my spending when just tapping away with my card, spending cash feels real.

It irritates every time this crops up and some people cry for 'cashless' everywhere with no thought for those it doesn't suit.

Completely selfish attitude from some surprising quarters.

There's plenty of people who have reasons for using cash and it is exclusive to well, exclude them.
