One of those 'years ago when I was a kid' things.
Years ago, when I was a kid, we had normal spiders.
You'd get the friendly, spindly type that look like they might hurt themselves each time they walk around. I've got several of those atm, they never seem to catch anything and just get vacuumed up once they'd dead.
And they'd be the harvest type things that looked a bit scary like they could give you a sharp nip.
Today I saw one I've never seen before; jet black and pretty hairy.
And tonight a false widow which was preparing a beetle twice its size for dinner.
Some funny looking feckers about.

The jet black arachnid was probably Segestria florentina (Tube Web Spider). Found in Southern England with range expanding. I have a few in my walk in coal bunker. They do nip, only on provocation.
