'I just saw an Ipswich shirt' Thread 13:07 - Jul 12 with 18715 viewshatch

Not sure if this exists already but I'm forever seeing Town shirts out and about and on TV so thought we should document sightings to see how far spread we are and whether any posters have been spotted.

I'm not talking about those niche ones of the past, just any from now on or recent weeks.

My recents are:

Carer's Trust shirt walking through Tulse Hill the other day
Last season's shirt with a Swindon fan at Red Bull Soapbox races
Yellow vintage Town shirt front row at the Oval just now

I'd like to be at the Oval, but tucked away in the shade, not the front row.

Son lives in Santiago. Told me he was walking close to where he used to live when somebody cycled past in full Town kit. Think son shouted blue army, not sure what happened from there

I arranged for about twenty kids in a remote village in Iraq to get old replica shirts in 2003. If you’re in the area and randomly come across the next generation in old Greene King shirts you’ll know why

Every time I go on holiday I seem to end up chatting to fellow Ipswich fans. I often wear an Ipswich cap which people notice or I spot them in their shirts. From memory. I've met town fans down a cave in the Dordogne in France, on the main street in Sorrento, Italy, in the adjacent cottage to mine in Yorkshire, on a beach in Thailand. In London last week someone spotted my Ipswich badge and we had a long chat about the glory days and how Ipswich were the first team he supported as a lad. There really are Ipswich fans everywhere.

Trying not to be biased, but I rarely see any Norwich shirts on my travels. I'd probably stop them for a football related chat, but they're just not out there. I suppose we picked up lots of fans all over the country, during our glory years.

Pretty much the same here.
Was gobsmacked to see one in Hanoi though.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

Saw a chap with his kids at Palma airport a few weeks back, was surrounded by German’s all holiday, pleasant surprise seeing the Town shirt board the same flight home.

There's been loads in Yarmouth this summer.

I got fed up of going up and asking them 'how do you think we'll do this season'

I donned my 1995 home shirt at Boomtown a couple of weeks ago and bumped into a Town fan on the Friday who had to double take. Hello if you're on here!

Weirdly the guy that served me at the bar was a rather smug Colchester fan (they'd just beaten us in the cup), which is even more obscure.

Also had the misfortune of meeting a large mob from Norwich with a rather errr interesting flag.

There are more in north Suffolk than there have been for several years. Always been a few even in the dark days but get the feeling people are wearing them a bit more again and that the optimism is just beginning to return. We have a long way to go to close the gap on the generation of fans favouring them lot in these parts, though.

Was just about to post that since moving up to north of the county a couple of years ago I really haven't seen many Town shirts. It does feel as though the Canaries dominate - or simply just make more noise (most of the Towen supporters I've met have been of the quieter type)

Poll: Right now, who would you rather have as Prime Minister?

I see a fella running in Wltham wearing an Ipswich shirt quite often
Think it's a white Carer's Trust one. Have never spoken to him yet but there's scope for a two-person supporters club right in the heart of Millwall/Charlton territory

There are plenty of Town fans in Witham .

Bloke walking down the road in Bingley West Yorkshire, his daughter had the new Umbro home top on. ITFC sightings are an uncommon sight in these parts*.

*Edit - until my black out 3rd shirt arrives in a few weeks...

Loads at the recent Ed Sheeran concerts at Wembley.

Not just Wembley, I watched a lot of his 3 minute highlights from a round Europe and Belgium, France, Amsterdam all had town hurts in front row

Living in Sweden and went to see Ed in Gothenburg recently and there were plenty of Ipswich shirts on display. Almost felt like going to an away game!

So far this week in Cornwall I’ve seen 2 Town towels, a pair of shorts, and two shorts.
All different families on different occasions.

Best one was when visiting GF, now wife, in Sydney.
Sat there having a coffee and a bloke ran passed me in town shorts.

We’ll be good again... one day
