So two days of above 35 degrees up coming in the UK 07:40 - Jul 17 with 7056 viewsJoey_Joe_Joe_Junior

And the media is reporting ambulances might catch fire, LOL!

They can’t get enough of hysteria. I was in the UK for 6 weeks last summer and literally didn’t see the Sun. August was god awful. This is going to last 48 hours!

Of course climate change needs to be addressed globally but the absolute melt down (exude the pun) is a bit ridiculous. Look out for the people that need it and make sure they are ok in advance goes without saying. Many places deal with this week in week our every summer. It was 41 here for for 4 days in a row in June.

BBC’s highest earner extra vocal again, while a lot of people in his circles I’m sure have a bigger carbon footprint than the average UK family.

Get the BBQ out and have a beer!

Tho it has been very close.

Media making much of it being the first ever red warning for temperature, but without mentioning that the current system was only established a couple of years ago.

We're currently at the sort of bed pressures normally only experienced in the post Christmas/early January period. Excessive heat exacerbates all sorts of medical conditions from the obvious kidney ones all the way through to cardiac and respiratory ones, so frankly, you can f**k off with your 'it rained in the winter so global warming is a myth' horsesh1t, Trumpy.

Aww here we go again making things up that I say and getting all aggressive, I think you’d be better off hitting the ignore button. Under two months until the NFL season starts and I know how excited you get jumping all over those threads as well.

It’s an observation about the clickbait media you div.

I’ve bought a new BBQ

Although - it’s now showing as likely to be 33 in Ipswich

Climate change awareness is one thing but being frightened about your health for two days because it’s forecast to be hot is another. If you are worried or don’t do well in the heat then stay inside and drink lots of water.

Louder for the people at the back.

You don’t know that yet, as it hadn’t happened, I’m seeing 38 on my app. My parents talk about 76 all the time.

It was 15-18 degrees and cloudy for 6 weeks when I was home last summer, so I’m not convinced it’s Armageddon quite yet.

Yes and?

- Climate change is real
- A couple of hot days in July in England isn't signaling the immediate end of the world?

If June to September was 35-40 daily I’d probably be a bit more concerned.

The milder winters is likely a bigger indicator that the planet is warming up. I mean the O&G industry knew about this decades ago and ignored it, like everyone else. Society is very global now, everyone can try and do better but the genie is out of the bottle. Greater awareness is a good thing but change doesn’t happen overnight. “Stop oil”, ok sounds practical.

One trip on a Private Jet usually leaves a bigger carbon footprint than most families of 4 do for an entire year, so the lectures and podcasts from Hollywood is just the usual we are good people noise. I wonder how much energy their properties in the hills use up daily.

Also noteworthy some of this comes from people with their best years behind them now telling younger people how to live when they’ve spent their life doing the same thing!

It was on an article that Lineker was quoting on his Twitter feed now that he seems to have decided to take a firm stance on the matter. I believe it’s the same one that from Cobra says thousands could die. So that’s where I read it. There’s a lot of alarmist stories that circulate in the media that drive fear and hysteria was my original point. I’m sure you’re happy to point out the ones you don’t agree with that cause all there thickos that disagree with you to vote the way they do.

About 90% of your posts are political and seem to be full of a fair bit of anger and hate even though I’m sure you preach mental health and be kind stuff. The corrupt, racist criminal that you used to post about ten times a day has gone so I thought you might be a bit happier with life!

You’re also obsessed with Trump when I never supported him, get some help (and pls leave me alone at the same time) as none of our interactions go particularly anywhere apart from some casual abuse from you. Ipswich fans that post on the same forum might not agree politically on everything shocker.

So please feel free to get the last word on the internet and then hit ignore, it will help your state of mind. Maybe?

Keep working for those important TWTD upvotes though! Maybe even see you for a pint on Boxing Day. I’m buying, I’m nice like that.

No I’m not. Just pointing out it’s not a new phenomenon and it’s pretty in to suddenly care so much, which is a bit rich considering some of those making the most noise about it.

Oh I’m not saying it can’t be dangerous for older or vulnerable people. So of course people need to be checked on and make sure they have their supplies remember to stay hydrated etc. Just that the some of media likes to go a bit crazy for a few days.

Flooding is probably the greatest danger many communities in Northern Europe in terms of weather events.

Yep pretty sure it was 76, as it was the same summer the West Indies bowling attack mauled Tony Greigs England team !

They love a bit if hysteria. Some years back my dad and I had been to the game and were coming back to Kent, as my parents and sister were staying with us. Coming over the Dartford Bridge, the temperature showed 40 degrees. Ok so we had dinner in our little garden and boy was it hot, but I don’t remember anything bursting into flames. Just the desire for a few cold ones.

We are actually lucky in this country that the weather is relatively mild and weather extremes are rare. However, with climate change, it looks like events are going to get less rare, sadly.

I am a little confused as to what was showing a temperature of 40 degrees (presumably centigrade) when the UK record is 38.7.

Of course, it is possible to rest a thermometer in direct sunlight, inside a car or a greenhouse etc and get it to read much higher temperatures but I am not sure of the relevance in that case.

Harsh.

You are often on about how hard you work, how you don't have time to think about issues that don't affect you day in day out etc., so a bit disingenuous to come back with that.
